It is now just a matter of time until Liverpool are formally crowned 2019-20 Premier League champions and reclaim the top flight throne that is rightfully theirs. However, this isn't just a flippant turn of phrase. This is a matter of historical fact.
Indeed, as calculated by World Football, the Reds are also runaway leaders at the summit of the extensive all-time First Division + Premier League table since 1888.
After taking the time to crunch 131 years' worth of results (awarding three points for a win and one for a draw throughout, despite that only being protocol since 1981-82), Liverpool are sitting pretty at the summit of the overall table having taken 6,921 points from 4,163 top-flight matches.
Even though they have not won a title for 30 years, Liverpool's position reflects the club's all-conquering dominance in the 1980s, having been crowned First Division champions no less than eight times between 1978 and 1990.
Elsewhere, Arsenal (who have managed an impressive 101 consecutive seasons in the top flight) are in second, some 166 points off the pace, with Everton in third.
Despite their success in the Premier League era from 1992, Manchester United have to make do with fourth spot in the overall table, while big boys Manchester City, Tottenham and six-time champions Chelsea are down in sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively.
