MOSCOW -- Lokomotiv Moscow have won the Russian Premier League for the first time in 14 years.
Lokomotiv beat Zenit St. Petersburg 1-0 on Saturday after Portuguese forward Eder knocked in Vladislav Ignatyev's cross in the 87th minute.
The win lifted Lokomotiv seven points clear in the standings. They can't be caught by Spartak Moscow or CSKA Moscow, who each have two games remaining.
It was the third Premier League title for 70-year-old coach Yuri Syomin, who also won with Lokomotiv in 2002 and 2004. He returned to the club in 2016 for his fourth spell in charge, and turned around the fortunes of a club who had been used to mid-table obscurity in recent seasons.
