Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski among 'footballing gods' - media

Robert Lewandowski's incredible return of five goals in nine second-half minutes for Bayern Munich dominated the media coverage on the morning after Tuesday's 5-1 victory over Wolfsburg.

Football magazine kicker Lewandowski described the Poland international as "unearthly" and the "the best ever substitute." The publication added: "Bayern were down 1-0 against Wolfsburg at half-time and were uninspired. But at half-time Lewandowski came off the bench and within eight minutes and 59 seconds scored a quintuple. Bayern enjoyed a thrashing which didn't occur until the Lewandowski gala."

Suddeutsche Zeitung: One-man tornado breaks the records

"At 9:22 p.m. the unimaginable happened. Robert Lewandowski received the ball in the box, he was clear to shoot at the goal, but he shovelled the ball through the box, and one had to note: Robert Lewandowski wasted a chance. Lewandowski is an attacker, and attackers waste chances, that's part of being an attacker. But not for Robert Lewandowski between 9:01 p.m. and 9:22 p.m.

Die Welt: Lewandowski has arrived in the Messi category

"Robert Lewandowski is one of the best attackers in the world. He already made it clear during his Borussia Dortmund days. By now, it is clear: He belongs to the best of the best attacking players. He has reached the category of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Not from a marketing perspective, but from a sporting one. Bayern have to know that someone like him will receive incredible offers. Especially the financially strong clubs from England could make a move for him in the future. Bayern would be well-advised to give it their all to keep him. And thus reach new salary dimension. He's worth it."

Bild: Lewandowski madness! Five goals in nine minutes.

"A one-man-show unseen in Bundesliga. You can't stop record-Robert! Coach Guardiola was in disbelief, his hands covering his face. Lewandowski, shaking his head, showed five fingers to the bench. A crazy game, a mad Lewandowski!"

Spielverlagerung: Lewandowski's quintuple presented by Pep

"A typical evening at the Allianz Arena. Pep Guardiola with the wrong starting formation and the right changes. Only after half-time, Bayern unveiled Wolfsburg's weakness. Tactical analyses back or forth. All the tactical improvements would have been worthless had Lewandowski not had a doozy day in front of the goal. Five goals from five chances in five hundred and 40 seconds -- that's football history."

Abendzeitung: Oans, zwoa, druffa

"The man of the night was, of course, the finisher. Ro-bert Le-wan-dow-ski. Five times, getting more euphoric from goal to goal, the stadium announcer shouted his name into the microphone. The Pole experienced his finest hour on the pitch, not only in the Bayern jersey."

TZ Munich: Unbelievable! Lewandowski strikes five in nine minutes.

"Robert Lewandowski needed only nine minutes to rise to the footballing gods from the bench of the Allianz Arena. He was a spectator until half-time, when Pep Guardiola unleashed his goal-getter, and he slayed Wolfsburg with a rarely seen one-man-show."

11 Freunde: Dad, does Lewandowski really exist?

"No worries kids, he only exists in fairytales. Robert Lewandowski, the monster that makes wolves whimper, scores five goals. No. No. No. No. No. Yeeeeeeeeeeees! Lewandowski. His fifth goal. And he scores with a sideways scissor-kick. That guy within 15 minutes writes a new chapter of Bundesliga history, which dwarfs everything that has been in a Zdenek Miler's Mole picture book. The Big Lewandowski. Will he have a White Russian in the box now?"
