Kevin De Bruyne does not have to be sold this summer - Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg will not be forced into selling Kevin De Bruyne, according to sporting executive Klaus Allofs, amid reports that the club want €80 million for the midfielder.

De Bruyne, 23, has enjoyed an excellent season in the Bundesliga and has been linked with several European clubs as a result.

The Belgium international's agent, Patrick De Koster, has confirmed talks have taken place with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain regarding his client, who is under contract at Wolfsburg until 2019. Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest.

On Thursday, De Bruyne told kicker that he could be tempted away from the club by a big-money offer, but that for now he is planning to stay put.

"A club might step in and make an offer that pleases Wolfsburg and also makes me happy. Right now, I say that I will stay in Wolfsburg," he said.

Also speaking to kicker, Allofs has said the club are pleased to hear about interest from other sides.

"We don't fear it. As a matter of fact, we are delighted that our player is linked with such clubs," he said. "That means that he's deemed good enough."

However, clubs hoping to lure De Bruyne -- who has equalled the Bundesliga assist record with 20 this season -- from Wolfsburg will need to splash out.

De Koster said earlier this year that clubs would need to spend at least €50 to €60 million on the former Chelsea player, while kicker reported on Friday that the Wolves are looking for an even bigger fee and want €20 million for every year left on his contract. This would mean the midfielder would cost a Bundesliga record €80 million.

While Allofs did not talk of an asking price, he explained that Wolfsburg, who have qualified for next season's Champions League, are not forced to sell De Bruyne this summer.

"We are in a comfortable position. We don't need to let players go, it's in our hands," he said.
