TOP STORY: Arsenal see €60m Upamecano bid rejected

Arsenal have turned to 20-year-old RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano as a replacement for Laurent Koscielny, but have reportedly seen a €60m bid rejected, according to German outlet Bild.

Upamecano plays a crucial role in Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann's 3-5-2 system and thus the club do not want to sell. The France Under-21 international is under contract at Leipzig until 2021, which includes a €100m release clause that will reportedly drop to €80m next summer. But that's too late for Arsenal.

Unai Emery is desperately in need of a defender after the shock news that Koscielny is set to leave the club for Bordeaux, with a potential alternative in Juventus' Daniele Rugani proving difficult to land also. Juve reportedly want a permanent deal, but Arsenal have been trying to secure the Italy international on loan.

23.23 BST: Could Christian Eriksen leave Tottenham on Thursday in a cut-rate deal?

The Mirror writes that Spurs now would accept £70 million for the Dane, who they evaluated at £130m earlier this summer. This comes after the market somewhat surprisingly dried up for the spectacular Eriksen, as rumoured Barcelona and Real Madrid deciding to shop elsewhere.

If Eriksen is to leave London by Thursday's deadline, it is widely speculated that Man United are now the favourites to land the 27-year-old playmaker. Spurs reportedly still want £70m for Eriksen but United could even get the player for less, considering there are not many other suitors out there. The Mirror claims that Man United are hoping to get Spurs chairman Daniel Levy down to £50m for Dane.

With just two days to go, Eriksen is one of the biggest names to watch in the Premier League transfer window.

22.51 BST: Everton have been busy this window and as they continue to chase blockbuster deals for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and Watford central midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, they are reportedly close to adding one player and sending another out in separate deals.

Sky reports that the Toffees have agreed to a loan deal for Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe. The France international, 27, won the World Cup with Les Bleus in 2018 and has been a mainstay at Monaco the past three seasons.

Meanwhile, midfielder James McCarthy appears to be heading out the exit door at Goodison Park as he closes in on a reported £8.5 million move to Crystal Palace. The Republic of Ireland international, 28, has been at Everton since 2013 but has only played just once since suffering a gruesome leg break in a Jan. 2018 game against West Brom.

22.24 BST: Rumours have been swirling about David Beckham's Inter Miami CF, which will begin play in MLS in 2020, making a major splash.

While various big-name players have been rumoured, there has also been considerable buzz about who will become the club's inaugural head coach? Earlier this week former David Beckham teammate and AC Milan midfielder and manager Gennaro Gattuso was linked with the job and now another big name has surfaced: Carlo Ancelotti.

"[Beckham] is my friend, he was my player, I have a good relation[ship] with him," the three-time Champions League-winning manager told ESPN FC at a news conference ahead of Napoli's game in Miami on Wednesday against Barcelona.

"I have a contract with Napoli. I don't know my future but why not [coach in the United States]? I think MLS is improving, improving, improving, and so it could be a good experience in the future."

Ancelotti, who coached Beckham at Milan and PSG, has also managed Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and currently has a contract with Napoli until 2021.

22.02 BST: Celtic have announced they have signed 20-year-old midfielder Liam Burt on a two-year contract.

This one easily could get lost in the shuffle but Celtic have signed Burt from hated rivals Rangers, a rare occurrence in the history of the Old Firm rival. How rare is it? If Burt, who has already played three first-team games for Rangers, goes on to play a game for Celtic he would become just the sixth player since 1935 to play for both clubs.

The previous five? Alfie Conn, Mo Johnston, Kenny Miller, Steven Pressley and Mark Brown.

21.27 BST: Stoke are looking for centre-back help after Ryan Shawcross' injury and the Daily Mail writes that Nathan Jones' club have enquired about Man United youngster Axel Tuanzebe.

Don't get too excited Potters fans, as the approach is expected to be rejected with the 21-year-old expected to make Man United's first team. An England Under-21 international, Tuanzebe has made eight first-team appearances for the Red Devils to date and last season played 30 times on loan for Aston Villa as the Birmingham side won promotion.

21.01 BST: Another done deal as former Leeds forward Kemar Roofe has signed with Anderlecht.

The 26-year-old winger/striker is the third player with English Football League ties to sign with Anderlecht this summer, who are now managed by former Man City captain and now player/manager Vincent Kompany.

Roofe scored 15 goals last season as Leeds finished third in the English Championship, and scored 32 goals in 122 appearances in all during three seasons with the Whites.

20.36 BST: Paulo Dybala to... Tottenham?

Sources tell Goal that Juventus have accepted a surprising €70 million bid for the Argentine attacker and that Spurs and Dybala will now look to come to personal terms. Dybala, who recently nixed a move to Man United in a swap deal for Romelu Lukaku, remains a top talent but took a step back last season while playing in the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo.

After racking up 26 goals and seven assists in 2017-18, Dybala slumped to 10 goals and five assists last campaign, leading to speculation he could seek his own challenge away from Turin. Man United, PSG and Inter were clubs linked with "La Joya" but Spurs look to have come out of left field.

We'll see if the Champions League runner-ups can get this deal over the line but if they do, this would be a major warning sign that Spurs mean business in 2019-20.

20.15 BST: Bournemouth have announced that Liverpool starlet Harry Wilson is joining them on a season-long loan.

Wilson, 22, is a full Wales international and last season starred on loan, scoring 18 goals for Frank Lampard and Derby County. Bournemouth have paid £2.5 million for Wilson which could also include up to £500,000 in bonuses.

This is just the latest business between Liverpool and the South Coast club with Jordon Ibe, Nathaniel Clyne and Dominic Solanke all spending time with the Cherries in recent seasons.

20.03 BST: ​Danilo has arrived in Turin to complete his medical ahead of his move from Man City to Juventus.

The 28-year-old will head to Juve in a swap plus cash deal for fellow right-back Joao Cancelo. Danilo's medical will take place on Wednesday with the Brazilian expected to net around €4 million per year. Cancelo, who was signed last season from Valencia for €40m, will leave Juve after just one season having made 34 appearances for the Old Lady.

19.45 BST: D.C. United announced earlier today that Wayne Rooney will be leaving the club in January but don't expect the club to sit idly by. Washington Post soccer writer Steven Goff is already reporting that D.C. has a pair of big-name stars in mind who could potentially replace the Rooney-sized void in the nation's capital: Mesut Ozil and Mario Balotelli.

Also, two names that will come up in the #dcu rumor mill as possible January transfers: Mario Balotelli and Mesut Ozil. Doesn't mean one or the other is on the way, but there has been contact between the sides. Save that for the next #sillyseason.

Goff claims that there has been initial contact by D.C. with Ozil and Balotelli's representatives and that one of the pair could join in January. Either would be a huge signing for the league, as Ozil (soon to be 31), despite all the criticism, is still a player capable of producing the spectacular, while Balotelli, a free agent and soon to be 29, is a lightning road both on and off the pitch.

Ozil's representatives are supposed to be in the United States next week to meet with D.C. United's brass.

We'll talk more about those moves in January but in the present, D.C. United are also busy. Goff claims the club are deep into talks with Las Palmas for Argentine winger Mateo Garcia.

Garcia, 22, starred in Greece last season on loan at Aris Thessaloniki, where he has bagged 11 goals. Busy times in the capital.

19.21 BST: Birmingham City have found their new striker, having signed Spaniard Alvaro Gimenez from Spanish Segunda side Almeria.

OFFICIAL: Blues have signed striker @alvarogimenez1 on a three-year deal.

The Club activated the release clause in his contract at @U_D_Almeria and beat off strong competition for his signature.

The Blues activated the undisclosed release clause of the 28-year-old, after Gimenez bagged 20 goals in 39 appearances last season in Spain's second tier. Gimenez, who is Pep Clotet and Birmingham's eighth signing of the summer, will be tasked with replacing 22-goal scorer Che Adams, who recently signed with Southampton for £15 million.

18.54 BST: Wolves have reportedly made a £30 million bid for a highly-rated defender.

The Times reports that the Europa League participants have launched a bid for Juventus centre-back and Arsenal target Daniele Rugani. Arsenal previously made a two-year loan offer for Rugani but that was rejected.

Could big spenders Wolves pip Arsenal to a big signing? That would be a sign of the times.

18.29 BST: What's up with our old pal Neymar these days?

Spanish outlet SPORT claims that PSG have decided that the best course of action is to move on from the Brazilian and have subsequently offered him to Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid. The report states that PSG are trying to offload him to anyone but Barcelona -- the player's preferred destination -- and have even proposed initial loan deals to the three aforementioned clubs.

It is never boring when Neymar is involved and the next few weeks figure to live up to that billing.

17.57 BST: Another done deal as Mainz have announced that they have signed Liverpool youngster Taiwo Awoniya on loan for the season.

The 21-year-old forward tallied 14 goals in Belgium last season split between Gent and Royal Excel Mouscron and will be looking to take the next step in his development in the Bundesliga.

Jurgen Klopp seems to still have some connections at Mainz, as this deal sees him do business with the club he played 11 seasons for and managed for another seven.

17.31 BST: We hinted this was coming on Sunday evening but Fulham have now made it official: midfielder Harry Arter has joined the club from Bournemouth on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Cardiff, brings much-needed steel to the middle of the park for Fulham and links up with his brother-in-law Scott Parker at Craven Cottage. Having a manager that is also your brother-in-law? That's a new one.

17.13 BST: Sources have told ESPN FC that Philippe Coutinho has been offered to both Manchester United and Tottenham. United have not completely ruled out making a move, but Spurs is a more likely destination for the Brazilian.

Coutinho played under Mauricio Pochettino at Espanyol and has maintained a great relationship with the Argentine coach. A source close to Coutinho told ESPN FC the chances of a return to England this month are "low" but not impossible.

A move to Spurs is complicated, though, and would depend on a number of factors. Christian Eriksen would have to leave the club -- with United interested -- while deals for Giovani Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes would also have to fail to materialise.

16.39 BST: Medellin-based outlet El Colombiano had reported that Real Madrid had made an initial €65m bid for Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, which included a potential €10m in add ons.

However, the Liverpool Echo reports that those rumours are not true and that the Brazilian will be staying at Anfield.

It would be slightly odd to sell him with less than 48 hours left to find a replacement, after all.

16.06 BST: Arsenal are not interested in signing Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho this summer, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Brazil international is out of favour at Camp Nou and reports in Spain and France have linked the Gunners with the former Liverpool player, with some even stating that a deal was close to completion.

However, sources have told ESPN FC that Arsenal are not in for the 27-year-old and never were.

16.02 BST: Swansea have signed Bournemouth striker Sam Surridge on loan for the season.

15.36 BST: Burnley have made an £8m bid for Middlesbrough and England Under-21 defender Dael Fry, says Sky Sports.

It looks like they might be trying to find a replacement for James Tarkowski, if his £40m move to Leicester comes off. At the moment, the Foxes are reportedly only willing to bid £20m.

15.16 BST: Venezuela U-20 international Christian Makoun has joined Inter Miami FC from Zamora FC.

15.00 BST: Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has trained with Anderlecht for a second day as he continues to seek a move away from Old Trafford.

Lukaku was pictured training with the Belgian side on Monday just hours after a proposed move to Juventus was left on the verge of collapse when United pulled out of talks to sign Paulo Dybala.

United's only explanation was that the squad had been given a day off but refused to confirm that Lukaku had been given permission to make the trip.

Sources have told ESPN FC he was expected back at Carrington on Tuesday but was again pictured training with Anderlecht, where friend and Belgium teammate Vincent Kompany is manager. United refused to comment on his continued absence on Tuesday.

14.51 BST: Arsenal have confirmed that captain Laurent Koscielny is leaving the club to join Ligue 1 side Bordeaux.

14.43 BST: Azerbaijan international striker Renat Dadashov has signed for Wolves on a four-year contract from Estoril.

The 20-year-old has been sent on loan to Pacos de Ferreira (where new teammate Diogo Jota began his professional career) to gain further experience in Portugal.

14.32 BST: Goncalo Cardoso is set to complete his £2.75m move to West Ham from Boavista very soon, reports the Daily Mirror.

14.15 BST: Wayne Rooney has agreed a deal to leave Major League Soccer side D.C. United and take up a role as a player-coach at English second tier club, Derby County in January.

The former Manchester United forward moved to MLS in June 2018.

Rooney's role at Derby will be his first in a non-playing capacity and he will look to learn from manager Philip Cocu, who replaced Frank Lampard in the summer after the ex-England man was named Chelsea boss.

14.09 BST: Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock has attracted the interest of Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports.

Willock, 19, has featured heavily in Arsenal's preseason campaign, suggesting he could challenge for a first XI place. But Bayern are hoping to persuade him his future lies in Germany.

13.31 BST: Liga MX's Club America are closing on a deal to bring former Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa back to the club where he began his career, sources have told ESPN FC.

Talks are very advanced, sources said, although the Belgian club have tried to exercise a clause in his contract to retain him.

Last week, outgoing America goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin, now with Porto, said he felt Ochoa was ideal to replace him.

Ochoa has had offers from European clubs in the past two weeks, including Serie A clubs Atalanta, Fiorentina and Lecce as well as Spanish clubs Valladolid and Mallorca, but the 34-year-old, who needs regular playing time to figure in El Tri's plans for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, will likely choose to return to America.

He made over 200 appearances for Club America from 2004-2011 before making his move to Europe and has been a standout for Mexico in the last two World Cups.

13.08 BST: Celtic want to sign Brentford full-back Rico Henry for £7m, says the Sun ... OK, but what does that mean for the future of their left-back Kieran Tierney?

The Scotland international will surely be allowed to move to Arsenal for around £25m if that deal comes off. So Gunners fans better hope it does.

12.45 BST: Liverpool's Liam Millar has completed a loan move to Kilmarnock for the season.

12.22 BST: It says something about the state of the game that Manchester City have made their move to snap up a 14-year-old, but the Daily Telegraph reports just that.

Former Aston Villa academy midfielder Kane Taylor "one of the most highly-rated teenagers in the country" was available for just £129,000 compensation and will now join City's Under-16s next season. Liverpool had been interested, alongside Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.

11.50 BST: Leicester need a replacement for Harry Maguire now he's left for an £80m move to Man United.

Sky Sports claims it won't be Burnley's James Tarkowski as the club value him at £40m. Instead, Leicester will be "exploring loan options from both within and outside the UK."

11.25 BST - ICYMI - D.C. United striker Wayne Rooney is in advanced talks with Derby County about joining the Championship side as player-coach, according to multiple outlets in the United Kingdom, with sources confirming to ESPN that he is set to meet with club directors on Tuesday.

11.16 BST: Sporting CP's Bruno Fernandes is in the middle of a tug-of-war.

Reports in Portugal claim that Tottenham have agreed personal terms with the midfielder but are still short on the transfer fee, with their latest offer at €50m with €10m in bonuses. Sporting want closer to €70m.

Other reports in O Jogo maintain that Man United are the ones in the lead and have made an offer of over €60m. But those first reports, from Portuguese journalist Goncalo Lopes, however, claim that Fernandes' agent has NOT been speaking to United at all.

Following? It'll all probably change in another hour or two.

10.54 BST: Because obviously he runs the show in Turin ... Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly given Juventus his OK to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan.

Juve have been looking for a new striker, with Romelu Lukaku linked and Paulo Dybala set to leave, but Gazzetta claims that CR7 has had an impact on who that might be.

10.30 BST: Manchester United are pursuing a deal for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, sources have told ESPN FC.

Eriksen, 27, has told Spurs he wants to leave the club this summer and, while United are interested, there is an acceptance it will be difficult to pull off with time running out before Thursday's deadline.

Tottenham put a £130m price tag on the Denmark international at the start of the summer but, in the absence of a formal bid, sources said they could be willing to accept a compromise.

Eriksen has just a year left on his contract and chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to let a prize asset walk away for free next summer. Tottenham are in talks over deals for Bruno Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso as they look for a replacement.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his midfield after losing Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera in the last six months. United, according to sources, have backed away from deals for Fernandes and Newcastle's Sean Longstaff leaving Eriksen as a key target.

10.15 BST: Borussia Dortmund are looking to reduce their squad by offloading attacker Maximilian Philipp to Dinamo Moscow for a transfer fee in the €20m region, says Bild.

The 25-year-old has been unable to break into Dortmund's starting XI over the past two years and was a target for several Bundesliga clubs including his hometown side Hertha Berlin. However, none of them were able to meet Dortmund's asking price and he now seems set to move to Russia.

10.01 BST: Bournemouth have had a decent transfer window and they are now in talks with Liverpool over a deal for midfielder Harry Wilson.

09.36 BST: Bayern Munich are interested in signing Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid, says AS.

Bale almost moved to Jiangsu Suning in China before the move collapsed and has no future under Zinedine Zidane. Keen to move on for regular football, Bayern would see him as an ideal signing as they have yet to fully replace Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery after their contracts expired. A chase for Man City's Leroy Sane has so far been fruitless.

09.18 BST: Yesterday there was some news about Flamengo being interested in Mario Balotelli and now the club president Rodolfo Landim has given an interview, as reported in Globoesporte.

"It's not new for anyone that when [Jorge] Jesus arrives [as manager], he wanted another box player [striker]," Landim said. "In this case, Balotelli is a great player. While Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel were backpacking [around Europe], they made contact with Balotelli and he showed an interest in playing for Flamengo, he said he'd like it. Nothing more than this at the moment."
