TOP STORY: Liverpool and Manchester United eye Bayern's Musiala

German Bundesliga clubs are becoming a real hotbed of young English talent and Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala is the latest.

Musiala, 17, signed for Bayern in July 2019 after leaving Chelsea's Academy and has featured for the first team 21 times so far this campaign.

However, the England Under-21 star is in negotiations over a new contract as he's still on a youth wage. Musiala's deal expires in 18 months and he reportedly wants a new one at around €100,000-a-week.

If he can't agree to extend his stay in Munich then Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing him, according to the Daily Express.

LIVE BLOG

21.59 GMT: The Athletic reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the verge of signing 29-year-old Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose on loan with a £17m option to make the move permanent, as Nuno Espirito Santo's team looks to fill the gap left by Raul Jimenez, who is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a skull fracture.

21.12 GMT: While Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have been monitoring Brest midfielder Romain Faivre, it's Borussia Monchengladbach who've stolen a march on the European giants as they seek to sign the 22-year-old midfielder this summer, according to Le10 Sport.

20.25 GMT: Marko Arnautovic had been linked with a return to West Ham United in previous days, amid news of his desire to leave Shanghai SIPG of the Chinese Super League, and Corriere dello Sport reports that Bologna are working on a deal to bring the 31-year-old forward back to Italy - where he spent a season on loan with Internazionale in 2009-10 - although the Austria international's wages could prove problematic.

19.38 GMT: Alejandro "Papu" Gomez is on his way out of Atalanta, of that there seems to be little doubt, but where he lands is very much up in the air. Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio writes that Sevilla are considering a move for the 32-year-old forward, joining a list of interested parties that reportedly also includes FC Cincinnati of MLS.

18.51 GMT: AC Milan have signed defender Fikayo Tomori on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season with the option of a permanent transfer, the clubs announced on Friday. Read the full story.

18.27 GMT: Championship side Swansea City have confirmed the signing of Seattle Sounders winger Jordan Morris on loan through the remainder of the season, a deal that includes an option to make the move permanent, as Steve Cooper's side seek promotion to the Premier League. Read the full story.

17.17 GMT: A done deal from Thursday, Marseille have announced that they've signed Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik on loan from the Serie A club.

16.30 GMT: RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is a man in demand. Does Bayern Munich or Liverpool make the most sense for him?

16.11 GMT: Arsenal let Sead Kolasinac join Schalke on loan and have now got to dip into the market to strengthen at left-back given Kieran Tierney's injury history.

The Evening Standard claims they are considering a move for Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand, as well as Crystal Palace's Tyrick Mitchell.

Bertrand, 31, has plenty of experience but his contract expires in the summer. The defender is "thought to be happy to stay at the club he joined in 2014 -- but, should a new deal not be agreed, offers from the likes of Arsenal would be hard to turn down."

The 21-year-old Mitchell has only recently broken into the Palace first team but is being watched by a number of Premier League rivals.

15.41 GMT: Fluminense manager Marcao has revealed that Chelsea centre-back Thiago Sillva plans to return to the Brazilian side in the future and says the club will do everything to bring him back.

Silva, 36, only moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer as a free agent after ending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. But Marcao suggested that the defender will move back to his homeland sooner rather than later to play for Fluminense, where he spent three seasons between 2006 and 2008.

"I think so. I'm sure the president will organise the club," Marcao said during and interview with Youtube channel Pilhado. "And I'm sure that we'll have the captain here with us. We'll do everything to bring the captain. He wants it a lot."

15.13 GMT: Valencia have made a new attempt to secure the services of Mexico international Edson Alvarez from Ajax before the end of the January transfer window, sources have told ESPN's Rodrigo Faez.

Talks between the versatile defender/midfielder and Valencia are progressing well, but they still need to convince Ajax for the deal to go ahead.

Los Che are ready to pay a fee to get him on loan until the end of the season, but the negotiations won't be easy as Ajax sources told ESPN that they want to keep the player.

15.00 GMT: Would Bayern Munich defender David Alaba replace Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid?

14.36 GMT: PSV and U.S. youth international left-back Chris Gloster has drawn interest from Newcastle United, a source has told ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.

Gloster, 20, is in a training camp for the U.S. U-23 team ahead of the Olympic qualifying tournament scheduled to take place in March. He has been playing with PSV's reserve team for the past two seasons and has made six appearances during the campaign after 16 in the 2019-20 season.

Gloster signed with PSV back in August of 2019 after spending parts of two seasons with German side Hannover 96. He has been mainstay for the U.S. youth national teams at both U-17 and U-20 level, and was part of the U-20 side that reached the quarterfinals at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, starting all five matches for the Americans.

Any move to the Premier League side would be subject to Gloster obtaining a U.K. work permit.

14.15 GMT: Chelsea have been been monitoring the progress of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, sources have told ESPN's Julien Laurens, despite the ongoing uncertainty over the manager's position at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are keen to strengthen their midfield in the summer and sources said scouts have monitored the France under-20 international who has been excellent under coach Niko Kovac, and has taken his game to the next level after moving from Bordeaux to the Principality a year ago for €18m.

He has started every game bar one in Ligue 1 this campaign, producing some top performances. The 20-year-old has attracted the interest of a string of clubs but Monaco are set to keep him in the January transfer window, sources said, ahead of what could be a scramble for his signature in the summer.

13.52 GMT: Emile Smith Rowe has made a strong impression of late after breaking into the Arsenal first-team but talk of a new contract is premature, sources told ESPN's James Olley.

The 20-year-old's inclusion for the Gunners' last five Premier League games has coincided with a dramatic upturn in form, winning four and drawing one to ease the pressure on manager Mikel Arteta. Consequently, newspaper reports said that Arsenal are ready to offer the attacking midfielder an improved deal on his existing agreement which expires in 2023.

However, sources close to the player told ESPN that Smith Rowe remains focused for the time being on cementing his place in the team before considering his contractual situation later in the season.

13.10 GMT: Trinity Rodman, Dennis Rodman's daughter, tells Kathleen McNamee that she is ready to make her own name in pro soccer.

It has been five days since Trinity Rodman became the youngest player ever to be drafted into the National Women's Soccer League, and the 18-year-old is busy packing up her college dorm room at Washington State University in Pullman.

An avid painter in her spare time, her artwork still hangs on the walls behind her, and her mother, Michelle Moyer, flits in and out of view, picking things up. After the whirlwind announcement of her participation in the Jan. 13 draft and then being picked No. 2 overall, it all feels weirdly normal.

Such is the prolific nature of her father's NBA career, the news that "Dennis Rodman's daughter" was entering the 2021 NWSL draft spread like wildfire across social media. Even the most inattentive sports fans took notice, and as a result, much of Trinity's own story was overlooked as people reminisced on the elder Rodman's antics on and off the court.

While she understands the hype and says there are similarities in how they approach sport -- their competitiveness, aggressiveness and drive are characteristics she picks out -- he is also just her dad. When ESPN aired "The Last Dance," a series that focused on Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls' 1997-98 season (Dennis Rodman's final year with the Bulls), Trinity says she didn't watch much of it because she kept falling asleep.

12.47 GMT: Did Chelsea make a transfer mistake in the summer by signing the wrong £70m-rated player?

12.09 GMT: The Daily Mail reports that super agent Mino Raiola has signed up 16-year-old Crystal Palace wonderkid Zion Atta amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.

The report says that "Atta is understood to have turned down a new scholarship and professional contract offer from Palace as he seeks a clearer pathway to first-team football."

And the forward, who is eligible to play internationally for Italy as well as the Ivory Coast, has already had offers from Roma and Ajax.

11.45 GMT: Roma are leading the race to sign USMNT right-back Bryan Reynolds, sources have told ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

Reynolds, 19, has drawn interest from Juventus, Club Brugge and another unnamed club during the January transfer window, but Roma are now in pole position and sources have told ESPN they are optimistic of confirming the move next week.

Roma are set to pay FC Dallas a fee in the region of €8m plus add-ons for Reynolds and and he will initially join the Serie A side on loan.

Juventus were close to signing Reynolds earlier in the window but encountered complications due to having filled their non-EU allowance for this season. There were talks over Juventus signing Reynolds and then loaning him to Benevento, but that move stalled.

11.00 GMT: And this one came out of nowhere. Arsenal have signed Brighton and Australia goalkeeper Maty Ryan on loan.

The Gunners were in the market for a backup goalkeeper after allowing Emiliano Martinez to join Aston Villa for £20m last summer. The club then missed out on signing David Raya from Brentford as his replacement and opted instead to bring in Iceland international Alex Runarsson, who has failed to provide sufficient competition for established No. 1 Bernd Leno.

Third-choice goalkeeper Matt Macey also left to join Hibernian earlier this month leaving Arsenal short of numbers.

Ryan, who will be given the No. 33 shirt, will aim to do that and Arteta said: "We know Mat very well through his performances with Brighton in recent seasons and he brings additional quality to our squad. Mat has very good Premier League experience and has played over 100 times in the league, which is something that will benefit us greatly on and off the pitch. We welcome Mat to Arsenal and look forward to working with him this season."

10.55 GMT: Arsenal are close to completing a loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard, sources have told ESPN's James Olley and David Cartlidge.

The Gunners face stiff competition from several clubs including Real Sociedad and Sevilla but are confident of winning the race after agreeing to Real's terms which included no option to sign the 22-year-old at the end of the season.

Odegaard originally joined Sociedad on a two-year loan last season but impressed so much that Madrid decided to cut the loan short to given him a chance at the Bernabeu. However, the attacking midfielder has started just five matches and is seeking a move to guarantee more first-team football.

Sources have told ESPN that Odegaard missed Real Madrid training on Friday morning and has been given to finalise a loan deal.

Sociedad have not given up hope that he will decide to join them given the positive experience he had at the club but Arsenal believe Odegaard wants to test himself in the Premier League and is favouring a switch to north London.

10.02 GMT: Norway women's international Maria Thorisdottir has joined Manchester United from Chelsea on a deal until the end of the 2022-23 season, the clubs confirmed on Friday. Her contract also has a one-year extension option.

The 27-year-old defender made 49 appearances for Chelsea with her playing time limited due to several injury problems.

"I'm proud to be joining Manchester United; growing up the club was always big in Norway, so for me to now be a part of the women's side is really exciting," she said in a statement. "I've been impressed with the way the team have developed in a short space of time and have heard so many good things about Casey too, so I can't wait to start working with her and the rest of the staff."

Thorisdottir joined Chelsea from Norwegian side Klepp in 2017 and has 46 international caps.

09.52 GMT: Manchester United have rebuffed loan enquiries for Donny van de Beek, sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson, and will look to keep the majority of the squad together this month as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares to fight on three fronts -- in the FA Cup, Europa League, and the Premier League -- for silverware.

Van de Beek, who arrived from Ajax for £40m last summer, has started two Premier League games this season, which has lead to talk the midfielder should look to find regular game time elsewhere.

But the Netherlands international, along with defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Brandon Williams, who have also been the target of loan interest, looks set to stay at United because Solskjaer will not throw away the chance to win the FA Cup and Europa League this season while in pursuit of the Premier League title.

09.30 GMT: Frank Lampard's fight to keep his job at Chelsea is being aided over the club's leaders struggling to identify his successor, sources told ESPN's James Olley.

The 42-year-old is under mounting pressure with the Blues 11 points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester United after winning two of their previous seven Premier League games.

While there is an acknowledgment of the job Lampard did last season in securing a top-four finish despite a FIFA transfer ban and reaching the Champions League round of 16 for the second consecutive year, senior figures at the club expected more this term having spent in excess of £220 million on players last summer.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will decide Lampard's fate, but sources told ESPN that advisors to Abramovich, and director Marina Granovskaia, are torn over who should succeed him.

08.30 GMT: Real Madrid are reluctant to include a buyout option on Martin Odegaard's loan deal to Real Sociedad, according to El Larguero.

The Basque outfit proposed that option which would have Odegaard's blessing, but Madrid are opposed. Madrid are, however, willing to loan the Norwegian midfielder to Real Sociedad until June 2022 but include a clause that could allow them to cut the loan short this summer.

Odegaard, 22, wants to leave Real Madrid in search of playing time to continue to progress in his career He has made nine appearances, five as a starter this season and played just 367 minutes since returning to Madrid last summer after a successful loan season at Sociedad.

Sociedad had wanted to keep Odegaard for the 2020-21 season but Madrid brought the player back with coach Zinedine Zidane keen to have him in the squad. Arsenal have also been linked with a loan move.

PAPER TALK (by Harry Kettle)

Southampton confident over Ings deal

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is confident that striker Danny Ings will sign a new contract with the club, the Daily Mail reports.

Despite interest from around the Premier League, mainly from Tottenham, as well as reports indicating that Ings wants to move to a club playing Champions League football, Hasenhuttl had the following to say about the Englishman's next move:

"I can only say that we want him to stay here," the German coach said. "We've shown as a club that we want him to be here, definitely, and he's shown signals that he wants to stay with us. So I'm still positive that we're fine together for the future."

Torino pursue Fernandes

Torino are hoping to take Gedson Fernandes on loan from Benfica, Tuttomercato reports.

Fernandes is out on loan in North London with Tottenham Hotspur but hasn't quite been able to strike gold with the club -- with some suggesting he's been one of Spurs' worst signings in recent years.

Torino are hoping to take advantage of that, with the report adding that a deal could be struck in the next few days.

Tap-ins

- West Ham United have stepped up their interest in Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri, TalkSPORT reports. Their bid of £27m was rejected last week with Sevilla upping their demands to around £35m, but with the Hammers seemingly unwilling to meet that figure, their search for a new striker goes on.

- Sky Sports is reporting that Burnley have joined the race to sign Bournemouth striker Joshua King. The 29-year-old is out of contract during the summer transfer window, but he could potentially leave this month with the Clarets joining West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion in the race for his signature.

- Calciomercato is reporting that AC Milan are working on a new contract for defender Davide Calabria. His current deal is set to run through the summer of 2022, but as a result of his performances so far this season, Milan are eager to add at least one or two more years to his stay at the San Siro.
