All of Europe's top-five leagues are up and running - and we've already witnessed some incredible results. Chief among those were Manchester United's stunning loss to Brentford. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur played out another thrilling draw, while Barcelona opened their LaLiga campaign with a goalless one. Real Madrid came from behind to win their season opener against Almeria while AC Milan and Inter Milan also had winning to start their campaign. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund had contrasting results, with the former showing signs of another inevitable march to the title.

By The Numbers has all the best stats from the weekend's action:

PREMIER LEAGUE

20

Manchester United are bottom of the Premier League for first time since Aug 1992. They've lost their last 7 away PL games, their worst run in League football since 1936

2

Erik Ten Hag became the first Manchester United manager to lose his first two league games since John Chapman, who took over in November 1921 and lost back-to-back matches against Middlesbrough (Man Utd were relegated that season.)

0

However, the last time United started with no points through two games was in the inaugural 1992-93 PL season... which they won.

84

This was Brentford's first win over Manchester United in all competitions since a 2-0 victory in the FA Cup on Feb 1938, 84 years ago, snapping a 7-game winless streak.

1

This also happened to be Brentford's biggest ever win in the Premier League, and is tied for their biggest-ever win over Manchester United in all competitions (4-0 win in 1936).

1

Gabriel Jesus is the first Arsenal player with 2+ goals an 2+ assists in a Premier League game since Theo Walcott on Dec. 2012 vs Newcastle (3 goals, 2 Ast). Leicester seem to be Jesus' favourite opponents - he's scored 7 goals in 8 PL games against Leicester since making his PL debut - and won them all.

20

Kevin De Bruyne scored and assisted for the 20th time in a Premier League game, only Mohamed Salah (24) and Son Heung-Min (21) have done so more often since the Belgian's Man City debut in September 2015.

184

Harry Kane's late equaliser was his 184th Premier League goal for Tottenham, now level with Sergio Aguero's record for the most PL goals for a single club, and fourth on the all-time top scorers list behind Alan Shearer (260), Wayne Rooney (208) and Andy Cole (187). It was also his 42nd goal in London derbies in the Premier League, one shy of Thierry Henry who tops the all-time list.

6

Reece James' goal against Tottenham was his 6th Premier League goal since the start of last season, the most by any PL defender in that span.

8491

Nottingham Forest earned their first Premier League win since May 16, 1999, a span of 8,491 days (1st season in PL since 1998-99).

LALIGA

0

The last time Barcelona went three straight LaLiga matches without scoring was in September-October 2003, their only such streak since 1989.

0

Robert Lewandowski failed to score in his Bundesliga debut for either Borussia Dortmund or Bayern, repeating the feat with Barcelona in LaLiga. He took 3 games with Dortmund to score his first league goal, and 2 with Bayern.

1

This was Sergio Busquets' first time being sent off in a LaLiga game (includes straight reds and 2nd yellows). The only other time Busquets got sent off as a Barcelona player was almost 10 years ago, in a 2-0 win over Benfica in the UEFA Champions League (Oct 2012).

0

Real Madrid have never lost a LaLiga game in which Lucas Vázquez scored, with 18 wins and a draw.

13

Fernando Martínez's 13 saves for Almeria were the most by a goalkeeper in a LaLiga match in the last three seasons.

14

Real Madrid extended their unbeaten streak in LaLiga openers to 14 games (last such loss in August 2008 vs Deportivo La Coruña)

28

David Alaba scored 28 seconds after coming on as a substitute. That was the fastest goal by a Real Madrid sub in LaLiga since this data was tracked (ESPN), beginning in 2006-07.

400

Unai Emery will managed his 400th LaLiga game in Villarreal's 3-0 win over Real Valladolid, making him the 20th different manager to reach the milestone.

SERIE A

4

This was the first time AC Milan scored at least 4 goals in their season opener since August 2010 vs Lecce - the only two times they've done so in this century.

82

Romelu Lukaku's goal in 82 seconds was the fastest scored in a Serie A season opener since the one scored by Dusan Basta for Udinese in the 2011/12 season, also against Lecce and also 82 seconds into the match.

LIGUE 1

7

Neymar is currently on a 7-game scoring streak, the second-longest in his career for club and country (8 between Dec 2019-Jan 2020). The Brazilian has been directly involved in 27 goals (19 goals, 8 assists) in 20 games played for club and country in 2022.

BUNDESLIGA

19

After a 19-match winless streak vs Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, SC Freiburg have won 2 of their previous 3 matchups. A win made more impressive by the fact that Dortmund had only lost one of their previous 9 away Bundesliga matches (6W,2D,1L).

14

Jamal Musiala reached 14 career Bundesliga goals for Bayern Munich, breaking Uli Hoeness' record (13) for most Bundesliga goals by a Bayern teenager.

42

Bayern have won 42 of the last 43 games in all competitions when leading by multiple goals. The lone exception was in May 14 earlier this year - a 2-2 draw vs Wolfsburg when the Bundesliga title had already been decided.

MESSI RONALDO WATCH

5

Lionel Messi featured in PSG's 5-2 thrashing of Montpellier for the full 90 minutes, shooting five times on goal and creating 1 chance, yet failing to have any goal involvement for all five of PSG's goals.

7

Ronaldo has only netted in one of his last seven games for club and country (including friendlies), going goalless against Brentford as well.
