Jesus, Sterling run wild in Man City's rout of West Ham

It turns out Manchester City like the London Stadium. Another dominant display there in the space of a month saw Pep Guardiola's team boost their top four credentials and send a message to the rest of the league as the club's front three of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus ripped holes in the home side's defence. City have scored as many first-half goals at the London Stadium as West Ham have this season.

Positives

Everything went right for City, whose players looked like they really enjoyed their football on Wednesday evening. All of their rivals in the top six dropped points and Guardiola's team barely broke a sweat to win. Sterling, Sane and Jesus were incredibly impressive in both moving to create space and executing their passes or shots, while the defence looked much more settled with Willy Caballero behind it.

Negatives

To pick a negative from City performance on Wednesday would be incredibly harsh. Perhaps the only down side was that the visitors took their foot off the gas in the second half.

Manager rating out of 10

10 -- Eyebrows were raised at Guardiola's decision to drop both Claudio Bravo and Sergio Aguero, but the manager got his selection and his tactics spot on to demolish the opposition.

Player ratings (1-10; 10=best. Players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating)

GK Willy Caballero, 7 -- There wasn't a lot for the goalkeeper to do, but his presence seemed to calm down the defence in front of him and City never looked like losing their cool as West Ham tried to press.

DF Aleksandar Kolarov, 7 -- It took a while for the Serbian to grow into the game after a bit of a dodgy start, but he was a strong driving force down the left flank to support Leroy Sane throughout the match.

DF Nicolas Otamendi, 7 -- Faced with a battle with Andy Carroll, many might have been worried about Otamendi's tendency to dive in and commit himself. He kept that side of his game under wraps and produced several fine tackles.

DF John Stones, 8 -- After months of being under the spotlight, Stones gave the sort of performance that should fill him with confidence. He was in the thick of the action at times and never looked fazed by it, while also being calm in possession and knowing when to clear his lines.

DF Bacary Sagna, 7 -- The Frenchman was a solid option for City on the right side of defence, proving useful in helping his team break and being strong with his tackles.

MF Yaya Toure, 8 -- It was a majestic display from the Ivorian who rolled back the years to dominate the midfield. Did he misplace a pass all evening? He was a huge driving force behind City's dominance.

MF David Silva, 9 -- Once again, the Spaniard was a delight for the travelling fans to watch. His vision and pinpoint passes opened up West Ham time and time again, and he crowned the evening with a goal.

MF Kevin De Bruyne, 8 -- The Belgian is coming into his own after a period of looking tired in City's team. That's well and truly been shaken off -- he was alert to pick up loose ends, his finish to open the scoring was superb, and his use of the ball was too much for the hosts to live with.

MF Raheem Sterling, 9 -- Under Guardiola, Sterling has been one of City's most improved players and that continued on Wednesday evening. He caused panic for the home side every time he got the ball and he used it intelligently. His assist for Jesus' goal was unselfish and he was tricky to win the penalty.

MF Leroy Sane, 9 -- Another player who's really coming into his own in Guardiola's system, Sane is proving why City paid a reported £37million for the winger. West Ham's Sam Byram will be glad he doesn't have to face him again this season.

FW Gabriel Jesus, 9 -- To come into the starting line-up ahead of Sergio Aguero is no mean feat, but Jesus led the line excellently. Most 19 year olds would be under intense pressure, but quick feet, brilliant link-up play with his teammates and a goal to get off the mark blew the visiting fans away.

Substitutes

MF Fernandinho, 7 -- A solid introduction for the Brazilian following his suspension, replacing De Bruyne after 68 minutes, Fernandinho put in several tough tackles to help see out the clean sheet.

FW Sergio Aguero, NR -- The cameras were on him after being dropped, but that could inspire him to go on and prove he's far from finished at City. He was lively after replacing Sterling on 73 minutes.

MF Fabian Delph, NR -- Replacing Silva with 10 minutes left, Delph was solid and keen to impress.
