Bayern's record 11 and 35, Lewandowski first since Ronaldo: Best stats from UCL final vs. PSG

What a way to end the men's 2019-20 European football season. After a cracking UEFA Champions League final in which Paris Saint-Germain more than played their part, Bayern Munich have been crowned champions of Europe.

Here are the best stats from the match:

1

Bayern Munich are the first team to win every UCL match en route to the title -- 11 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws. Now that is how you win a Champions League. They are also the first unbeaten champion since Manchester United in 2007-08, as well as the first team in UCL history to win 11 straight games.

2

There's nothing quite like winning everything, is there? Bayern are now only the second team to win the European treble twice (European Cup, domestic league and domestic cup) after Barcelona.

4

Hans-Dieter Flick is the fourth German coach to win the title in the UCL era, after Ottmar Hitzfeld (1997, 2001), Jupp Heynckes (1998, 2013) and Jürgen Klopp (2019).

Also 4

Only on four previous occasions has a manager older than Flick (55 years old) lifted the UCL -- Sir Alex Ferguson twice (57 in '99 and 66 in '08), Heynckes (68 in '13) and Raymond Goethals (73 in '93).

5

Kingsley Coman is just the fifth French player to score in a final in the UCL era, joining Karim Benzema (2018), Zinedine Zidane (2002), Marcel Desailly (1994) and Basile Boli (1993). He is also the first to do it against a French team. But you know what makes it even worse for PSG? Coman is a PSG Academy graduate.

6

Bayern are now tied-third for most European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles of all time with Liverpool (both have six wins). In front of them are AC Milan, who have seven, and Real Madrid, who have - and this number always astonishes - 13.

6/7

French clubs have lost six of seven European Cup final appearances; the only exception being Marseille, who won the title in 1992-93.

7

There is more company in misery for PSG. The last seven teams to feature in their first European Cup final lost. The last team to win its first final appearance was Borussia Dortmund, in 1997.

15

Robert Lewandowski ends the season as the UCL top scorer with 15 goals. He is the first UCL top scorer not from Real Madrid or Barcelona since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2007-2008 for Man United (first UCL top scorer from a German club) - that's a remarkable 12 seasons ago!

It's also the first time a player other than Ronaldo or Lionel Messi finishes as outright top scorer in a UCL season since Kaka in 2006-07.

25

Bayern Munich won 25 of their 26 matches in 2020 in all competitions (one draw). They ended the season on a German club record 21-game winning streak in all competitions.

34

PSG were shut out in the UCL for the first time since losing 1-0 on April 12, 2016, against Manchester City. Their record (shared with 2011-14 Real Madrid) of 34 consecutive UCL games with a goal has come to an end.

35

Bayern have set a new record for a goal difference of 35, the largest in a single UCL season. Bayern also scored a whopping 43 goals this season in 11 UCL games. That's the second-most any team has managed in a single season, with only 1999-00 Barcelona bettering it (45, but in 16 games).

33-2-1

Flick's managerial record so far? 36 games played, 33 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, 1 treble. The man averages a trophy every 12 games. Not too shabby for a person who stepped in as caretaker with the team floundering about, eh?

55

Speaking of not too shabby, Lewandowski has scored a remarkable 55 goals for Bayern Munich this season across all competitions. That is a clean 16 more than any other player has, across Europe's top five leagues (Ciro Immobile, with 39, is second and Cristiano Ronaldo, with 37, is third).

500

Coman's goal was Bayern Munich's 500th goal in the competition in the UCL era. Only Real Madrid (567) and Barcelona (517) have scored more.
