Arsenal dropped points at Aston Villa as a spectacular 94th minute saw Emiliano Buendia lash home a winner after penalty-box pinball to give the home side a deserved winner at 2-1. It's a result that pulls Villa up to second (Man City are two points behind and play later today),and pulls them to within three points of league leaders Arsenal.
It was a very even match in the regulation ninety, but Aston Villa had the better of the chances. Ollie Watkins was guilty of profligate finishing and poor hold-up play, but Matty Cash's opener in the first half was superbly taken.
Arsenal looked slow in attack, apart from Bukayo Saka, and Mikel Arteta made a double sub at half-time to inject urgency into proceedings. It paid off early, when Saka created a superb chance for Trossard who finished ruthlessly from close range.
After the goal, though, Arsenal appeared to sit back again and Villa grew into the game again. They made some attacking subs -- Jadon Sancho and Buendia among them -- and it was the latter who was in the right place at the right time to lash home after a minute of sustained Villa pressure on the Arsenal box in the last minute of added on time after the ninety.
