Manchester United's women's team found out the club's end of season party had been cancelled via social media and news reports, rather than being informed by officials, sources have told ESPN.

United won the women's FA Cup at the weekend, beating Tottenham 4-0 at Wembley. But only found out the club's traditional annual end of season awards was cancelled after the news became public.

The end of season awards dinner was cancelled because of scheduling issues ahead of the men's FA Cup final on May 25 against Manchester City.

But the women's team only found about this after several players had shifted holiday plans to attend the dinner, a source told ESPN.

The awards dinner traditionally sees players recognised for their performances during the season. United's women's team have their final match of the season on Saturday against Chelsea with the dinner originally scheduled for next week.
