The UEFA Champions League 2023-24 final is set. Real Madrid's dramatic win against Bayern Munich saw the La Liga champions qualify for yet another Champions League final. Kylian Mbappe and PSG tried their hardest but a Mats Hummels-inspired Borussia Dortmund saw them off in the second leg in Paris. Real will face Dortmund in the final at Wembley on June 1.

Edin Terzic will manage his first Champions League final in three weeks time, and the task facing him could not be any stiffer, as he faces a record-extending Carlo Ancelotti, who will be managing in his sixth final, two more than any other manager. Real are also unbeaten against German opposition in finals, previously beating Eintract Frankfurt in 1960 and Bayer Leverkusen in 2002.

Joselu is only the second player, after Rodrygo against Manchester City in the 2021-22 season, to score a match-winning goal in second-half stoppage time in the semifinals or later. There were 162 seconds between his two goals that turned the match and the tie on its head against Bayern.

Only two players from Jurgen Klopp's Dortmund squad that made the final in 2013 still remain at the club. Mats Hummels's towering performance and goal took them there, for what will be Marco Reus's last game for the club.

Borussia Dortmund reached the Champions League final for the third time after 1996-97, when they won and 2012-13, when they lost. Incidentally, their last appearance in the final 11 years ago also came at Wembley.

PSG rattled the woordwork four times in the match, which is the most on record for a Champions League knockout stage match. In fact, PSG hit the woodwork six times across the tie, which is also the highest on record in the Champions League knockout stages since 2003.

Joselu has scored five goals as a substitute this season for Real Madrid, only one player has more goals in all competition as a substitute for a La Liga team this season.

Real Madrid have now eliminated Bayern Munich seven times in the Champions League/European Cup, the most a club has been eliminated by a single opponent in knockout ties in the competition.
