Manchester United free to get Hummels; Chelsea plan Pogba swap

As the summer window draws ever closer, the transfer rumours and gossip continue to spread...

United clear to sign Dortmund's Hummels

Long coveted by Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, Dortmund and Germany centre-back extraordinaire Mats Hummels appears closer than ever to taking his defensive talents to Old Trafford, report the Guardian.

Hummels, a World Champion with his country in 2014, fits the bill for a Van Gaal defender, with the Man United manager having considered bidding for the now 26-year-old's services last summer, as well as during the most recent winter window.

But the paper persists, saying this time will be different as Dortmund have all but admitted their star stopper will be for sale in the summer.

Dortmund chief executive, Hans-Joachim Watzke, said: "In this moment, this is a total dummy discussion, because there is no offer. If one arrives, we will discuss it internally and make a decision. But this decision will only be taken by BVB."

Sounds like good news for United.

Oscar, Ramires sale to fund Chelsea's play for Pogba

Our favourite Frenchman, Paul Pogba, is the subject of yet another item in our future. However this nugget is not so much about the Juventus jewel as it is about what Chelsea are willing to do to get him.

According to our friends at the Telegraph, the Blues could be preparing to part with the industrious Brazilian duo of Oscar and Ramires to fund a future play for Juve's multi-talented midfielder.

With the paper reporting the Italian giants' interest in the swap, the Chelsea pair could put Mourinho's men in the driver's seat to land the £74 million-rated player ahead of Manchester United, City and PSG.

PSG to pass on Dani Alves

Seemingly unwanted at Barca, who appear amenable to letting his contract end at the conclusion of the campaign, PSG are the latest to say "no thanks" to Dani Alves, per French outlet L'Equipe.

The paper reports the Paris outfit will not be looking for reinforcements on their right flank even if Netherlands international Gregory van der Wiel cannot reach an extension with the club, as they have vowed to commit to the versatile Marquinhos and recent summer signing Serge Aurier at the position.

But one club's trashed is another's treasure. And the Express have ... expressed ... their belief that this scenario suits Manchester United down to the ground, with United ready to offer Alves a £150,000-a-week contract to entice the veteran Brazilian to Old Trafford.
