TOP STORY: Liverpool edge Man United to snap up Werner
Liverpool are leading the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner after seeing off competition from Manchester United to secure the forward's signature, The Sun is reporting.
Germany international Werner has eight goals to his name in the Bundesliga this season and would add plenty of experience to Jurgen Klopp's side, despite being just 23-years-old.
Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea have also expressed interest in acquiring Werner's services, but Liverpool are now the front-runners to land him in January after Klopp agreed to loan the striker back to Leipzig for the remainder of the campaign.

22.04 BST: Roma are preparing a €10m offer to make the loan signing of Chris Smalling permanent, reports Gianluca Di Marzio, but Manchester United value the 29-year-old centre-back at closer to double that amount.
20.47 BST: Liga MX giants Chivas have opened negotiations with Manchester City over an $11m deal for Mexico international Uriel Antuna, according to ESPN Deportes, after the 22-year-old completed a sensational season on loan at LA Galaxy. However, the report suggests that City are holding out for a larger offer.
19.30 BST: Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira writes that Juventus have identified 19-year-old FC Salzburg striker Erling Haaland as their No. 1 priority to reinforce the attack, and are preparing a bid in the realm of €35m to €40m this summer in hopes of beating out competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid.
18.03 BST: The Mirror cites Tuttosport as reporting that Juventus have told Emre Can that he is free to leave the club in January, after he was left out of their Champions League squad, and that Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all interested in the 25-year-old former Liverpool midfielder.

15.30 BST: When a young player is compared to PSG and France superstar Kylian Mbappe, you know they are going to get some interested clubs sniffing about.
Enter Florinel Coman, a 21-year-old Steaua Bucharest winger who has been drawing rave reviews in Europe and crushed England's hopes with two goals during this summer's under-21 Euros.
Coman has caught the eye of Manchester City, reports the Daily Mail, with West Ham and Roma also keen to see if this whole 'the new Mbappe' thing is actually true.
14.17 BST: Czech Republic midfielder Alex Kral has been linked with a £10m move to Norwich City, reports the EDP.
Kral, 21, has won praise for his performances for Spartak Moscow and now Everton, Burnley and Newcastle are also on his trail.
"We know about the interest in the Premier League, Alex has been watched for a long time," the player's representative Karol Kisel told sport.cz. "But at the moment we are not dealing with the transfer. In the future, this is certainly an option. In addition, Alex is now focusing on adapting at Spartak and the final push for European Championship qualification. These are the priorities now."
13.35 GMT: Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka is "devastated" after being booed by his own fans and then reacting like he did, and that means he might not be around the Emirates much longer.
The 27-year-old's future is very much up in the air but Sportbuzzer reports that his former club Borussia Monchengladbach have ruled out a move, via their sporting director Max Eberl.
12.11 GMT: Liverpool are keen on a backup goalkeeper and Trabzonspor's Ugurcan Cakir was scouted on Monday, according to Sabah.
Cakir, 23, played well in the 2-2 draw against Istanbul Basaksehir and would cost around €15m, having made his international debut for Turkey earlier this year.
11.32 GMT: Soccerlink in France reports that Lyon are lining up a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in January, which means good news for Manchester United.
Giroud has barely played under Frank Lampard and is keen to move on, but if Lyon land him then he will replace Moussa Dembele who will then be free to seal a €45m move to United.
10.40 GMT: Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has a host of clubs to pick from. Juventus, Manchester United and PSG are all reportedly keen on the Croatian, but will he depart in January?
09.32 GMT: Peru's Argentinian coach Ricardo Gareca has ruled out the possibility of coaching Boca Juniors.
Gareca is among the reported candidates for the Boca hotseat should Gustavo Alfaro not continue in 2020. "I'm fully committed to the Peru national team," said Gareca in a news conference after announcing squad for November friendlies against Colombia and Chile. "There are no chances of me leaving anywhere else."
Gareca, in charge of Peru since March 2015, led the country to qualification for the 2018 World Cup -- for the first time in 36 years. The country also finished runners-up to Brazil in the 2019 Copa America.
08.45 GMT: Juventus are lining up a €40 million bid for Norwegian 19-year-old Erling Haaland, La Gazzetta dello Sport's Nicolo Schira has reported.
Red Bull Salzburg striker Haaland has scored 12 goals and notched six assists in 10 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga so far this season, and is also said to be on Manchester United and Real Madrid's lists of transfer targets.
Super agent Mino Raiola is apparently at the heart of the Serie A champions' move for the young player.
08.00 GMT: According to AS, Barcelona's Gerard Pique has said some of the Catalan club's players offered to restructure their wages to help re-sign PSG's Neymar this year.
Brazil international Neymar left the Camp Nou for the French capital in 2017, and seemed set to rejoin his former side in La Liga this summer.
But a lengthy transfer saga ended with the 27-year-old staying put at PSG, though Pique said it wasn't for a lack of Barca's players trying to assist the move.
The Spain international is reported as saying: "What we said to the president was whether we could change our contracts, because we knew there was a Financial Fair Play issue. So we said to the president, rather than earn something in year one, we could earn it in year two or three or four."

Pochettino on the radar of Bayern Munich
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has struggled this season and already links to other clubs have emerged, namely Bayern Munich.
Sport1 reports that Pochettino is a target for the German champions if they decide to replace Niko Kovac before the end of the season.
Bayern are second in the Bundesliga and have had some inconsistent performances in the league and Europe, though did beat Pochettino's side 7-2 in the Champions League.
Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag is another name on the Bayern shortlist, having led the Dutch club to the Double last season.
Dortmund eyeing Sancho replacement
According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund have made ex-Manchester City youngster Javairo Dilrosun -- currently at Bundesliga rivals Hertha BSC -- their top target should Jadon Sancho depart. The 21-year-old has racked up three goals and two assists this season and is strongly tipped for a bright future.
However, Lucien Favre's side could face serious competition from Liverpool to land the talented 19-year-old winger, who mainly operates on the right side and has a similar game to England international Sancho.
That's an area Jurgen Klopp might be keen to add more depth in, having opted to play Jordan Henderson in a wider role at times due to a lack of options.

-- Borussia Dortmund have set their sights on signing talented Valencia youngster Ferran Torres, Marca is reporting. The Bundesliga side is believed to have been tracking Ferran for some time.
-- French publication Le Parisien are reporting that Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to let a quartet of players leave the club, with Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani the biggest names available. Les Rouge et Bleu are also willing to listen to offers for defenders Thilo Kehrer and Layvin Kurzawa, who have both fallen out of favour at the club.
