Stats: Kane's record 84, Ronaldo equals Mbappe with 30, Man United's comeback wins

Cristiano Ronaldo scored, but could only help Juventus draw against Torino. West Bromwich Albion scored, and scored, and then scored some more as they dismantled Chelsea. Manchester United and Manchester City won, while Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur didn't. Liverpool comfortably saw off Arsenal. Real Sociedad won last season's Copa del Rey against great local rivals Athletic Bilbao. In La Liga, Real Madrid won, while Atletico Madrid lost. Inter Milan stretched their lead atop Serie A to eight points. Oh, and PSG lost to Lille to go three points behind them in the race for the Ligue 1 title.

By The Numbers has the best stats from the return of club football this past weekend:

Premier League

3

Big Sam does quite like playing at Stamford Bridge. Sam Allardyce is the first manager in Premier League history to win away against Chelsea with three different clubs in the competition (also with Bolton and Crystal Palace).

5

West Brom became the first PL team ever in the bottom three of the table to score 5+ goals away against a 'Big 6' club.

5

Harry Kane has scored 5+ goals at five different venues in the PL (King Power, Selhurst Park, Goodison Park, St Mary's, St James'). No player in the competition's history has done so at a wider range of stadia (Alan Shearer, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, also five).

8

More West Brom joy/Chelsea despair. The Baggies' eight goals against Chelsea in the PL this season is the most the London side have conceded against an opponent in a single top-flight campaign since conceding nine against Liverpool in 1989-90.

23

This is the first time in 23 years that two former Manchester United players (Wilfried Zaha and Danny Welbeck) scored against them in the PL . The last time, in 1997-98, Dion Dublin and Mark Hughes did the scoring.

In fact, Welbeck is the first player to score as many as three PL goals against Manchester United after leaving the club.

28+

Aston Villa vs Fulham was the first game in PL history in which every player in the starting XI for both sides was born after the first ever PL game on August 15, 1992, more than 28 years ago.

84

More Kane-on-the-road goodness. In just 120 appearances away from home, Kane has scored 84 PL goals -- the most away goals by a player for a single club in the competition's history.

95

Manchester United have won 95 PL matches after conceding the first goal -- seven more than any other team in PL history.

Sunday's 2-1 win over Brighton was their eighth comeback win of this season. That's the third-most comeback wins by a team in a single PL season after Newcastle United (10 in 2001-02), and Manchester United themselves (nine in 2012-13).

La Liga

7

Karim Benzema is on his best scoring streak ever for Real Madrid -- seven games (nine goals). He is now the fourth-highest goalscorer in Madrid history (187), behind only Alfredo Di Stefano (216), Raul Gonzalez (228) and Ronaldo (331).

14

A quite remarkable stat -- 14 of the 19 goals Atletico have conceded this La Liga season have come since January 1. For added context, they played 14 league games before January 1, and 15 since.

Copa del Rey

1

Real Sociedad have become the first team ever to win a Copa del Rey final with a penalty being the only goal of the match. It was, in fact, the only shot on target either side had in the final.

33

This is Sociedad's first title of any kind since 1987 (also Copa del Rey), 33 years ago (since this was the 2019-20 season's Copa final).

Serie A

9

Inter Milan have won nine league games in a row for the first time since 2007, which was when they set the all-time Serie A record of 17 consecutive matches.

Bundesliga

15

Thomas Muller has now provided 15 assists in the Bundesliga this season, two more than any other player in Europe's top five leagues (Kane, 13).

62

Bayern Munich have now scored in 62 consecutive matches in all competitions - it is the longest scoring run for a team in the history of German professional football.

Ligue 1

3

PSG have lost each of their last three Ligue 1 home games, their longest run since September-October 2007 in the competition (also three).

66

Lille have amassed 66 points after 31 Ligue 1 games in 2020/21, the highest tally in their history at this stage of the season (three points per win). Each of the 26 teams with at least this total at this point have finished on the podium, with 21 being crowned champions.

Ronaldo-Messi watch

Ronaldo scored, Lionel Messi (potentially) plays on Monday night.

30

For a season that's not gone according to plan for Ronaldo and Juventus, the man himself cannot stop scoring. He has now scored 30 goals across all competitions this season, tied with Kylian Mbappe for third-most among Europe's top five leagues. Only Robert Lewandowski (40) and Erling Haaland (32) have more.

76

Ronaldo has scored 76 Serie A goals, more than any other player, since he made his debut in the competition. The next closest Juve player is Paolo Dybala, who has... 18.
