Barcelona teenagers Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí will lead a youthful Spain squad for this summer's European Championship in Germany as manager Luis de la Fuente named a 29-man squad for the tournament on Monday.

Three players are due to be cut before La Roja's first game against Croatia on June 15.

Yamal and Cubarsí are joined in the squad by Barça teammate Fermín López, who is one of two players called up to the senior side for the first time, along with Real Betis forward Ayoze Pérez.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Marco Asensio is among the notable absentees, while Gavi, Alejandro Balde and José Gayà are all missing through injury.

De la Fuente has named a relatively young squad, although there is experience in the form of Manchester City's Rodri, Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal, Sevilla's Jesús Navas and Atlético Madrid's Álvaro Morata.

However, it is the inclusion of Yamal and Cubarsí which stands out following impressive debut campaigns with Barça.

Yamal, 16, has made 50 appearances for Barça in all competitions this season, earning a regular place on the right of the attack, while Cubarsí, 17, has been an ever-present force at centre-back since making his debut in January.

Both have already featured for Spain, with Yamal scoring twice in six outings and earning a standing ovation from the Bernabéu crowd for his performance in a 3-3 draw against Brazil in March.

Cubarsí, meanwhile, came on as a substitute in March's friendly fixtures against Colombia and Brazil. They are joined by club teammate López, a 21-year-old midfielder who scored 11 goals in his debut season with Barça's first team this year, while Pedri has also been included despite doubts about his fitness.

There are also call-ups for Bayer Leverkusen's Alex Grimaldo, Chelsea's Marc Cucurella, Real Sociedad's Martín Zubimendi, Girona's Aleix García, Villarreal's Álex Baena and Athletic Club's Nico Williams on the back of impressive performances with their respective clubs.

Spain, three-time European champions in 1964, 2008 and 2012, open their campaign against Croatia in Berlin on June 15.

They then play Italy June 20 in Gelsenkirchen and close the group stage against Albania in Düsseldorf on June 24.

Prior to the tournament, De la Fuente's side will play friendlies against Andorra and Northern Ireland.
