Javier Hernandez has revealed he chose a move to Bayer Leverkusen last summer after turning down a number of clubs in Italy.
Hernandez, 27, left Manchester United last August after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Louis van Gaal, joining Leverkusen on a three-year contract.
The Mexico international, who has gone on to score 17 Bundesliga goals in 26 matches, said he had the chance to move to Serie A but opted for a move to Germany.
"Juventus, Inter [Milan], [AC] Milan, Lazio and Roma tried to sign me in the summer," The Sun quotes Hernandez as telling Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I picked Leverkusen because of the Champions League and they made me feel wanted. They were convinced I could help them improve and that made me smile.
"Leverkusen have exercised an option for me and I have a contract until 2018. I have everything I need here."
However, Hernandez, who has also played for Chivas Guadalajara and Real Madrid in his career, says he has not ruled out the possibility of a move to Italy in the future.
"I've played for three clubs in three different countries so I know that anything can happen," he said. "Serie A is a great league, I can't exclude playing there."
