Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc could barely hide his displeasure with Adrien Rabiot after the midfielder said the club should offer him a "Christmas present" of a loan move in January.
Arsenal target Rabiot, 20, has made the most of an injury to Italian international Marco Verratti by putting in a series of solid performances at the heart of the French champions' midfield.
With Verratti nearing a return, however, Rabiot told French TV show Telefoot that he would be seeking a move away from Paris for the second half of the season if he finds himself spending more time on the bench.
Speaking ahead of PSG's final Champions League group game against Shakhtar Donetsk, Blanc made it clear that the academy graduate's comments had not gone down well.
After initially refusing a new deal, Rabiot extended his contract last November and is now tied to PSG until the summer of 2019.
And Blanc feels the France under-21 international should concentrate on continuing his development in the French capital.
"It annoys me," Blanc said at a news conference on Monday. "I don't want to say anymore and I'm going to concentrate on tomorrow's match.
"Adrien has to understand that when you have the possibility of going to the end of your contract and to leave for free, you can do it.
"Otherwise, when you sign a contract of five years with PSG, you have to respect your first club.
"I'm not going to go any further than that because otherwise I risk annoying myself."
In the interview with Telefoot, which was broadcast on Sunday, Rabiot said he felt PSG would have to agree to his request.
"I asked the president to be loaned out if my playing time lowers between here and the month of January," he said. "He won't be able to refuse me because I've stepped up [since Verratti's injury].
"He likes me a lot -- it would be my Christmas present."
