Bayern Munich romped 10 points clear at the top and within grasp of a fourth Bundesliga title in succession with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Schalke 04.
After a tepid goalless opening period, the league leaders ran rampant in the second half. Robert Lewandowski fired in a brace in a space of 11 minutes in the 54th and 65th, with the red-hot Arturo Vidal adding the final goal of the evening on 73 minutes.
Here are the ratings as Bayern heaped pressure on nearest challengers Borussia Dortmund, who welcome Hamburg on Sunday.
Player ratings (1-10; 10=best; players introduced after 70 minutes get no rating):
GK Manuel Neuer, 7 -- Bayern's ever-present goalkeeper was hardly tested against his jilted ex and the club he loves and supports. He's heading serenely towards another league record with only 14 goals conceded so far this season and easily racked up a 19th clean sheet. Neuer was briefly roused from his slumber to deal with an early effort from Schalke's Bayern loanee Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and late on from substitute Younes Belhanda, as his former side pressed for a consolation goal to no avail.
DF Juan Bernat, 7 -- The seven-time Spanish international comfortably dealt with the threat of the talented Leroy Sane. He also found the time to flash a drive narrowly wide on 18 minutes as he tried in vain to double his Bayern career goal tally.
DF David Alaba, 7 -- A mostly untroubled evening at centre-back, this time paired with the fit-again Medhi Benatia. Watch out for the Austrian to have a brilliant Euro 2016 playing in midfield.
DF Medhi Benatia, 6 -- Reappeared for the first time since he was hooked off at half-time in Bayern's near Champions League exit against Juventus. On a low key return, the Moroccan enjoyed a stress-free evening.
DF Rafinha, 7 -- The ex-Schalke man remains a solid and reliable domestic performer and laid Lewandowski's header on a plate with a pinpoint delivery from the right hand side.
MF Arturo Vidal, 8 -- The "Warrior" continued his magnificent recent form with a commanding second half performance. A knock down header enabled Lewandowski to break the deadlock and Vidal added his third goal in four games by stabbing home from close range. After a very disappointing first five months in Bavaria, who'd have thought that the Munich faithful would hand the Chilean a rousing standing ovation when he came off with 12 minutes to play?
MF Philipp Lahm, 7 -- Bayern's skipper did much of the dirty work in midfield in place of the suspended Xabi Alonso and had a shot deflected over just after the break.
MF Douglas Costa, 7 -- Replaced Franck Ribery on the left hand side in the starting line-up and was Bayern's brightest spark in a tepid opening period. The Brazilian missed a golden chance in the second minute to put Bayern in the lead and couldn't find a way past the busy Ralf Fahrmann in the visitors' goal. Looks much more effective on the left side, as he's been farmed out to the right in recent games.
MF Kingsley Coman, 6 -- Looked short of fitness and match practise after missing the past four games through injury, but will only improve after getting in a full 90 minutes.
MF Mario Gotze, 5 -- Sorry but any more performances like this and the much-maligned Gotze's Bayern career will surely end with a whimper. The 23-year-old remains a shadow of his former BVB self and was largely anonymous in the first half. He improved slightly after the break but could only muster a tame shot straight at Fahrmann. He's capable of so much more but shows little presence, while the body language suggests an unhappy and frustrated player. One small consolation after a run of one goal in 23 Bundesliga games: Gotze's only got a maximum nine games left under Pep Guardiola at Bayern.
FW Robert Lewandowski, 8 -- Fully recovered from a recent car accident, which saw him dropped to the bench in Lisbon. Burst into life with a second-half brace, adding goals number 26 and 27 in another prolific goal scoring season. His neat chest, turn and swivelled left-footed finish was exquisite, while his deft back post header to double the lead was typically clinical. If Bayern are to win the Treble, the Polish striker needs to stay fit and firing.
Substitutes:
DF Joshua Kimmich, 6 -- Replaced the visibly tiring Benatia and slotted into central defence to perform with credit as he's so often done in recent weeks.
MF Franck Ribery, 7 -- The effervescent Frenchman, who recently turned 33, was rested after a run of impressive starts. He replaced Costa on 68 minutes and soon provided the trickery for Vidal's final goal of the evening. For the time being, Ribery looks to have seen off the threat from Costa for his spot on the left wing.
MF Sebastian Rode, NR -- Allowed Vidal a rousing farewell, adding a 10th substitute appearance to his bulging collection to go along with a paltry two league starts.
