Nottingham Forest fans to don green jumpers in tribute to Brian Clough

Brian Clough, one-off managerial genius and serial wearer of green jumpers, died 10 years ago this month.

Clough, who transformed the fortunes of both Derby County and Nottingham Forest, was rarely without a green round-neck jumper throughout his decades in football management.

Now, as Forest travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night, their travelling support won't be without one, either -- the competition's sponsors, based in Nottingham, are distributing 1,000 green jumpers among visiting fans travelling to the game on Forest transportation to mark the 10th anniversary of Clough's death.

Forest lead the Championship under the management of Stuart Pearce, one of Clough's former stars. But the great man, who died on Sept. 20, 2004, probably would have preached patience. After all, as he once said: "Rome wasn't built in a day. But I wasn't on that particular job."
