Juan Carlos Osorio has told ESPN that he has not resigned from the Paraguay national team, despite reports in the Paraguayan press that said he had terminated his role with La Albirroja.
Javier Sosa Briganti from Sistema Nacional de Television tweeted on Sunday that former Mexico national team coach Osorio had resigned and that it would be announced in coming hours, but the Colombian has told ESPN FC that he has not left his post.
Osorio took over Paraguay in early September and is due to oversee friendlies against Peru and Mexico in March.
The 57-year-old former Atletico Nacional manager attended the Copa America draw in Brazil last month and said that Paraguay's group with Argentina, Colombia and Qatar "couldn't be more difficult."
Osorio hasn't hidden his desire to manage Colombia at some point in his career, but Carlos Queiroz was unveiled as their new boss last week and the former New York Red Bulls coach said he'd be looking to defeat his home nation at the Copa America.
"The most important thing is that I work for Paraguay and I will try to win the three [group] games in the Copa America and go as far as possible," Osorio told Directv Sports.
The Colombian has recently been in Argentina scouting Paraguayan players and met up with Banfield coach and former Argentina striker Hernan Crespo.
Incoming Mexico coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino praised Osorio's work with El Tri last week, with the Mexican national team defeating Germany at the World Cup and reaching the round of 16 stage.
