Melbourne Victory's Oliver Bozanic set to join J.League's Ventforet Kofu

Melbourne Victory marquee player Oliver Bozanic is leaving AAMI Park to join Ventforet Kofu, the J.League side have announced.

The Japanese outfit confirmed that Bozanic will sign, pending a medical, and is set to join the team at training from Friday.

The news comes after the 2014 World Cup Socceroos midfielder was omitted from Victory's squad that thrashed the Perth Glory 4-1 in the A-League last weekend, amid speculation he was in talks for a transfer.

Bozanic joined Victory in 2015 on a three-year marquee contract as a midfield anchor -- replacing Mark Milligan -- and the 28-year-old's departure will give Victory more leverage in their bid to retain off-contract star James Troisi.

Troisi's form this season has easily been worthy of marquee status and earned the attacker a Socceroos recall this week.
