Real Madrid sign Jose Antonio Reyes' son

The son of the late Jose Antonio Reyes, Jose Reyes Lopez, has signed for Real Madrid.

The 11-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a contract with Los Blancos, the club where his father played on loan in the 2006-07 campaign and helped them win La Liga.

Reyes Jnr., who plays as a forward, has left Leganes to continue his career at Madrid, a move that was agreed prior to the death of his father in a car crash on June 1.

Accompanied by his mother and agent, the youngster, who will play for Madrid's youth teams, shared some photographs on Instagram, including one wearing a Real Madrid kit.

"I'm very happy and proud to start a new chapter at Real Madrid," he wrote. "I want to thank all those people that have supported me and trusted me, especially my family. I will continue to enjoy myself, work and learn with humility."

Jose Antonio Reyes, who played for Spain, made his debut for Sevilla at the age of 16 in the 1999-2000 season and moved to Arsenal in January 2004, winning the Premier League as a member of the "Invincibles" side.

He joined Real Madrid on loan later that year before making a permanent move to Atletico Madrid the following season. Reyes won the Europa League twice with Atletico.

A loan spell at Benfica followed before Reyes returned to Sevilla, helping them to three consecutive Europa League triumphs -- which made him the tournament's record winner with five in all.

Reyes later played for Espanyol and Cordoba before moving to Xinjiang in China. He returned to Spain to join Extremadura in January and played for the club until his death at the age of 35.
