Manchester City's five-match winning streak across all competitions came to a halt as costly errors by goalkeeper Ederson saw them lose Sunday's derby 2-0 to Manchester United.
Things weren't looking good for Pep Guardiola's side when Anthony Martial opened the scoring on the half an hour mark. The goal came from a free-kick routine, in which Bruno Fernandes dinked the ball through to the Frenchman to hit first time, but Ederson should have easily kept it out.
Having allowed the game to get away from them slightly following the goal, City regained momentum on top in the second half, as they began to dominate possession again and create chances after some tactical switches from Pep Guardiola.
This led to the away side creating better chances, as they put United under serious pressure in the second half, with the majority of it being played in hosts' half.
However, it was the home side who got a late goal, as Scott McTominay scored with a first-time shot after Ederson gifted him a chance on a plate with a terrible throw in the 97th minute.
The result means that Liverpool's inevitable title win comes a step closer, while they lose out on the bragging rights in Manchester.
Positives
Some of City's pressing -- especially in the early stages -- was superb, which put the United defence under severe pressure. There were also times where they were able to dominate possession, playing some brilliantly intricate passes. It will also be encouraging that they were able to reassert their game on United, having previously allowed the home side to get on top.
Negatives
There were periods where City's passing became sloppy, with United being allowed to get on top of the game. It will also be concerning that even during their period of early dominance, United had the better chances. There were also slight signs of poor discipline, with four players received yellow cards.

6 -- Pep Guardiola's decision to bring Riyad Mahrez on for Bernardo Silva changed the game's complexion, helping City to get back in the game. Considering the differences in Phil Foden's performance on the wing and in the centre, Guardiola may have learned a lot about where his best position is.

GK Ederson, 3 -- Had an absolute shocker for United's opener, allowing Martial's strike to go through his hand. He almost gifted United a second, when his terrible touch gave the Frenchman a sniff, but he recovered to keep the ball out. To top off his terrible performance, he gave McTominay the chance for United's second on a plate with an absolutely ludicrous throw, which the Scotsman finished with a first time shot.
DF Joao Cancelo, 6 -- There were plenty of complaints from City fans when they saw he had been selected ahead of Kyle Walker, but he just about warranted his inclusion. However, he was booked for a late challenge on Brandon Williams.
DF Fernandinho, 7 -- He was caught out a few times, but Fernandinho was arguably the most solid member of City's backline, making some vital interventions. Was booked for dissent.
DF Nicolas Otamendi, 4 -- He looked so uncomfortable at times. Some of the Argentine's tackling was outrageously reckless, while he sometimes looked as though he didn't know what to do with the ball at his feet.
DF Oleksandr Zinchenko, 5 -- It was interesting to watch how he floated between the left-back and centre-midfield areas, which highlighted his intelligence. However, there were plenty of times where the Ukraine international showed a real lack of quality in his ball distribution.
MF Bernardo Silva, 5 -- He had a fairly quiet game, even if he did provide some tidy pieces of play. It probably says a lot about his lack of influence that Guardiola opted to take him off and move Foden into the midfield when bringing Mahrez on.
MF Rodrigo, 7 -- He was typically precise with his passing and tackling, keeping things ticking over in the City midfield well. Was booked for dissent.
MF Ilkay Gundogan, 6 -- Played some very dangerous balls, but there were some equally sloppy passes from the German. Was just unable to unlock United's resolute defence.
FW Phil Foden, 6 -- The teenager was starting his first competitive Manchester derby, but it would have been easy to forget that he was on the pitch during the first half. He had much more of an influence in the second half, especially after moving infield.
FW Sergio Aguero, 6 -- He was looking very lively in the attacking areas early on, but got pretty much no service, which severely limited the impact he was able to have before being substituted off. Got caught out by Martial's run for the opening goal.
FW Raheem Sterling, 5 -- His first-half battle with Aaron Wan-Bissaka was interesting to watch, but it was ultimately one that Sterling came out second-best in. He missed a half-chance to equalise in the second period, failing to get a good enough contact on Mahrez's cross.
Substitutes
Gabriel Jesus, 5 -- Replaced Aguero in the 59th minute and forced a good save from David de Gea.
Riyad Mahrez, 7 -- Replaced Silva in the 59th minute and was City's brightest spark when he was on the pitch. He could have easily had an assist after putting some brilliant balls into the box.
Benjamin Mendy, N/R -- Replaced Zinchenko in the 77th minute and showed attacking intent down the left-hand side.
