JDT and Felda United concede late to draw in 2017 AFC Cup

Zah Rah Krangar's first-half goal wasn't enough to propel Felda United to their first AFC Cup win, as Ha Noi FC grabbed a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at a rain-soaked Shah Alam Stadium on Tuesday.

Do Hung Dung struck in added time to leave the Malaysia Super League side bottom of Group G.

A heavy downpour in the capital saw both teams struggled to string together passes on a waterlogged pitch.

As expected, the playing surface limited the goalmouth action in the early stages, until the 21st minute when the soggy pitch played heavily in Felda's favour.

A long pass out of defence set Zah Rahan on his way to goal, but the playmaker was second best to reach it, ahead of Phi Minh Long.

But the ball got stuck in a heavy puddle, which gave the Liberian a perfect opportunity to lob past the out-of-position goalkeeper from 30 yards to give the hosts the lead.

That fortuitous goal was the only real action of the first half, as Felda trooped into the dressing room in front.

The showers eased up after the break, which gave Hanoi the opportunity to be more menacing in the final third.

Gonzalo Marronkle had his effort hacked off the line in the 48th minute, before midfielder Do Hung Dung saw his dipping half volley fly inches wide of Farizal Harun's left-hand post five minutes later.

Ha Noi star Nguyen Van Quyet laid on a red carpet low cross that was begging to be put in the 68th minute, but there were no takers as Felda continued to lead a charmed life.

Hung Dung again came close in the 80th minute, firing an effort just past the post as Ha Noi tried their best to draw level.

But the 23-year-old would get his rewards deep into injury time. He curled a sumptuous effort from the outside the penalty box that went in off the post to give Hanoi a deserved point.

Felda coach B. Satiananthan lamented the lapse in concentration which cost his side the win.

"We expected a tough game from them, as on paper they are a better team with plenty of national players. The boys played well overall, but we lost concentration in the end and they scored. We still have a lot to learn," said Satiananthan.

Meanwhile, 10-man Johor Darul Ta'zim saw their four-game winning streak come to an end when they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Myanmar's Magwe at Thuwunna Stadium in Group F.

The 2015 champions overcame a Hasbullah Abu Bakar red card in the 12th minute to take the lead through R. Gopinathan's debut goal in the 27th minute.

But Sylla Sekou would grab a priceless equaliser for the minnows a minute from time as the teams shared the spoils.
