SEA Games: Aide Iskandar names Singapore final 20-man squad

Singapore U23 head coach Aide Iskandar cut nine players as he announced his final 20-man squad on Wednesday for the football competition of the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

The host nation are drawn in Group A alongside Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia. Group B will see defending champions Thailand take on Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Timor-Leste and Laos.

Right-back Al-Qaasimy Rahman will be entrusted with the captain's armband while Malaysia FA Cup winners Faris Ramli and Sahil Suhaimi will team up with Shahfiq Ghani to lead the attack.

The nine players who did not make the cut are Fashah Iskandar, Taufiq Muqminin, Zakir Samsudin, Nurullah Hussein, Shameer Aziq, Muhaimin Suhaimi, Christopher Van Huizen, Afiq Noor and Iqbal Hussain.

The Young Lions' opening game is against Philippines on June 1 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
