          TOP STORIES: Liverpool sign Kabak and Davies, PSG miss out on Alli, Arsenal exodus

          Liverpool have addressed their defensive injury problems by signing talented young centre-back Ozan Kabak, initially on loan from Schalke 04.

          The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga and arrives amid a Liverpool injury situation that sees centre-backs Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all on the sideline. Relegation-threatened Schalke have quickly found their replacement for Kabak, too, signing Shkodran Mustafi, who became the latest Arsenal player to have his contract terminated this window.

          Kabak's move comes after Liverpool also signed Preston North End defender Ben Davies earlier in the day. Davies, 25, emerged as a surprise late target for the injury-stricken Reds and his arrival sees Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg, 19, move the other way to Preston on loan for the remainder of the season. The need for two defensive signings was explained by Jurgen Klopp, when he confirmed that Matip will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle ligament issue.

          Liverpool also loaned out attacker Takumi Minamino to Southampton before the window shut in a surprise move to end the day's proceedings.

          Elsewhere, Dele Alli will remain at Tottenham Hotspur after chairman Daniel Levy blocked his proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain.

          As ESPN reported on Wednesday, Alli was keen on a reunion with former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino in Paris after being frozen out of the first-team picture in North London. However, Levy was reluctant to allow Alli to go due to his fondness for the player and the example he sets for others in arriving at the club for a modest fee -- £5 million from MK Dons in 2015 -- but proving to be a big success.

          Tottenham also would have needed to sign a replacement, with Internazionale's Christian Eriksen linked with a return to the club. Having joined only a year ago, the 28-year-old originally was told he could leave Inter, before Conte did a 180 last week and revealed Eriksen would stay in Milan for the rest of the season.

          Spurs' North London rivals Arsenal also had a busy day. In addition to the termination of Mustafi's contract, the Gunners let Ainsley Maitland-Niles leave on loan to West Brom, while fellow youngster Joe Willock joined Newcastle on loan for the remainder of the season.

          LAFC attacker and Uruguay international Brian Rodriguez has joined Spanish second division side Almeria.

          Meanwhile, Paul Arriola has completed a loan move to Championship side Swansea.

          23.57 GMT: We are still waiting on Everton to announce Josh King and Southampton to announce Takumi Minamino, with both deals reportedly finalised before the 11 p.m. deadline.

          23.37 GMT: Fulham always leave it late and while they will lose out to Everton regarding Josh King, they have got a striker in under the wire.

          The Cottagers, who currently sit 17th in the Premier League, have signed Josh Maja, 22, on loan from Bordeaux through the end of the season. Maja, who had two goals this season in limited opportunities in Ligue 1, previously starred at Sunderland and also spent time as a youth player with Fulham.

          Scott Parker has been desperate to add a striker to his ranks and Fulham do have an option to buy the player outright after the initial loan.

          Fulham also loaned out versatile defender Maxime Le Marchand to Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.

          23.26 GMT: A few more to add as we wrap up the day...

          - Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham has joined Marseille on loan through the end of the season.

          - Southampton have agreed to loan right-back Yan Valery to Birmingham for the rest of the season.

          - QPR have landed Sam Field on loan from WBA with an option to buy.

          - Wayne Rooney and Derby have pulled off a late double-loan swoop for defender George Edmundson (Rangers), midfielder Beni Baningime (Everton).

          23.14 GMT: Ajax have landed Morocco international Oussama Idrissi on loan from Sevilla.

          The 24-year-old had made just 10 appearances (five starts) for Sevilla after arriving for €12 million in the summer, but previously starred in Holland with Groningen and AZ Alkmaar. Idrissi was one of the top players in the Eredivisie last season, registering 13 goals and five assists for last season's runners-up.

          23.00 GMT: PENS DOWN. THE WINDOW IS NOW CLOSED... ALTHOUGH DEALS THAT WERE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE DEADLINE WILL CONTINUE TO FILTER IN.

          22.55 GMT: Arsenal have confirmed two more outgoings as Joe Willock will join Newcastle on loan, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles will join West Brom on loan.

          The move should see both midfielders push for regular playing time and adds to Mikel Arteta's winter cleaning spree that also saw Mesut Ozil, Sead Kolasinac, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi depart the club. Both youngsters will be thrown right into the fire, too, as both Newcastle and West Brom are firmly in the relegation battle.

          22.29 GMT: Some other deals that have trickled in over the past hour:

          - Everton have loaned Jonjoe Kenny to Scottish champions Celtic.

          - Fulham have loaned Aboubakar Kamara to French side Dijon and fellow attacker Neeskens Kebano to Middlesbrough.

          - Tottenham goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has joined Elche on a six-month loan.

          22.20 GMT: One from a short while ago: Nice have landed Jean-Clair Todibo from Barcelona.

          The centre-back, 21, joins the French side initially on loan, with Nice also having an option to purchase the France Under-20 international on a permanent basis. Todibo has made just five appearances for Barca since arriving from Toulouse in January 2019, spending time on loan at Schalke 04 and Benfica.

          22.00 GMT: ONE HOUR TO GO... but remember deals can trickle in after the deadline as long as the paperwork has been submitted by the 11 p.m. deadline.

          21.58 GMT: Liverpool have made their second signing of the day -- the club announcing they have finalised a deal for Schalke 04's Ozan Kabak.

          The Turkish centre-back, 20, joins initially on loan with Liverpool expected to be obligated to purchase the defender at the end of the season.

          ESPN's David Cartlidge offers some insight on what type of player Schalke defender Ozan Kabak is.

          The 20-year-old is an imposing centre-back who has often been played in a high-line, something that would suit Liverpool's system. Whereas Ben Davies is more of an all-round defender, Kabak has more of an old-school quality about him where defending comes first above all. He's an extremely combative defender who is dominant in the air and boasts good physical qualities, which often means using his upper-body strength to fend off attackers. He has plenty of pace to his game and is competent over short and long distances. His reading of the game also is very sound.

          Schalke have replaced Kabak with Shkodran Mustafi, who had his contract terminated by the London club to help facilitate a move.

          21.42 GMT: Here's an interesting one, as reports in England indicate that Southampton are pushing to make a late loan move for Liverpool winger Takumi Minamino.

          The Japan international, 26, has yet to really fire since arriving from FC Salzburg last January, but is an intriguing player with considerable upside. Reports suggest that talks between Saints and Minamino are in the advanced stages but that a potential deal could come down to the wire.

          Southampton also reportedly approached Liverpool about a loan for Neco Williams, but that was rebuffed.

          21.18 GMT: Galatasaray have signed Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes, 22, on a loan through the end of the season.

          The Portuguese, who recently was recalled early from his Tottenham loan, will hope to reignite his career after a disappointing year in London.

          He made just seven Premier League appearances for Spurs during that stretch and is the second ex-Premier Leaguer to join the Turkish giants on Monday, following the arrival of DeAndre Yedlin from Newcastle earlier in the day.

          21.02 GMT: We have some intrigue around Bournemouth's Josh King ...

          Mark McAdam adds that if King does join one of the clubs listed above, Bournemouth are lining up Southampton's Shane Long as a replacement. There is just under two hours remaining before the window shuts.

          20.48 GMT: Premier League leaders Manchester City have been rather quiet, but they have done a few deals with an eye to the future.

          Young winger Jayden Braaf has joined Udinese on a six-month loan, while City have in agreement in place to sign Rochdale youngster Kwadwo Baah in the summer.

          20.22 GMT: Watford have signed Mitchel Bergkamp, the son of Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

          The attacking midfielder was a free agent after leaving Almere City last summer and is the second 'famous' signing by Watford in as many days. On Sunday, the Hornets signed Maurizio Pochettino, son of PSG and ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, from Tottenham.

          20.06 GMT: There's one done deal for Liverpool as the Reds have completed the signing of centre-back Ben Davies from Preston North End.

          The 25-year-old had emerged as a late target for the Reds who have had myriad injuries in defence. Our resident scout Tor-Kristian Karlsen has the lowdown on the newest Red:

          Davies is a left-footed centre-back with strong positional sense and ability to anticipate the play. He prefers to solve situations by quickly reading the danger and making early interceptions; he makes few fouls for a central defender. While not the most dominant in the air, he is fairly mobile on the ground and can also hit an excellent long pass or diagonal with his strong left foot. Consistent, he hardly has a below par game and seems comfortable in handling the direct nature of Championship forwards. However, he will have to deal with forwards of a different skill set if he's to be successful in the Premier League and Europe.

          Liverpool are also expected to bring in Schalke's Ozan Kabak before the end of the day.

          19.54 GMT: Wayne Rooney's Derby County have been busy, first signing Man United youngster Teden Mengi and now securing a loan move for Championship veteran Lee Gregory,

          The 32-year-old striker, who has hit double digits in goals four times in the Championship (all with Millwall) joins the Rams from Stoke on a season-long loan. Rooney's Derby currently sit 19th in the Championship, 14 points out of the playoff places.

          19.28 GMT: Odion Ighalo's dream loan spell at Manchester United is over, but the Nigerian is close to finding his next club.

          Sky reports that Ighalo is in Saudi Arabia and currently finalising a permanent move to Al-Shabab. The boyhood United fan scored five times in 23 appearances for the Red Devils and was given the green light by parent club Shanghai Shenhua to explore new opportunities.

          19.11 GMT: Juventus' Daniele Rugani has been linked with Bologna and Parma, but according to Sportitalia, Cagliari are now in pole position to sign the defender.

          The 26-year-old has only played once since joining Rennes on loan and is expected to undergo a medical before joining the relegation-threatened Rossoblu.

          18.49 GMT: Will Chelsea's Billy Gilmour be loaned out before the 11pm deadline?

          It looks as if that answer will be no, with Fabrizio Romano saying that none of Gilmour, Marcos Alonso or Olivier Giroud will leave the club this window.

          New manager Thomas Tuchel is keen to go forward with the squad he has, and he has promised every player a clean slate at Stamford Bridge.

          18.32 GMT: West Brom have signed a midfielder, and it is not Ainsley Maitland-Niles ... at least yet.

          WBA have just announced they have signed Turkey international Okay Yokuslu on loan from Celta Vigo. The defensive midfielder, 26, becomes Sam Allardyce's fourth signing of the window following the arrivals of Robert Snodgrass, Andy Lonergan and Mbaye Diagne. The busy Baggies may not be done yet, as Arsenal's Maitland-Niles is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a potential move to the Hawthorns.

          18.16 GMT: It has been a busy day for Americans, and it may not be over yet!

          The Washington Post's Steven Goff understands that Swansea are still in talks with Paul Arriola and that the chances of a deal getting done remain strong.

          The winger, who scored twice last night for the U.S. in a 7-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, would join Jordan Morris, who joined the club on loan earlier this month.

          18.09 GMT: Parma have a new forward, with the Italian club having just unveiled loanee Joshua Zirkzee from Bayern Munich.

          The highly touted Dutchman, 19, will join the 19th-place Serie A side for the remainder of the season. Zirkzee scored four goals in 12 first-team appearances last season for Bayern and will aim to help Parma fight against the drop.

          According to Di Marzio, Parma are also nearing a deal for veteran Italian striker Graziano Pelle, 35, who is set to return to Italy following five seasons in China with Shandong Luneng.

          17.51 GMT: One from a little earlier, but Championship side Barnsley have signed American striker Daryl Dike on a short-term loan from Orlando City SC.

          The 20-year-old forward scored eight times in 22 games during an impressive rookie season and Sunday night made his USMNT debut against Trinidad and Tobago. Barnsley have American owners, with former Oakland Athletics and Moneyball innovator Billy Beane owning a 10% stake.

          17.48 GMT: Could Real Madrid's Isco finally head out the exit door?

          The Spanish midfielder reportedly felt 'humiliated' when Zinedine Zidane subbed on Sergio Arribas against Levante instead of the Spain international.

          According to sources close to the player, it is highly unlikely that Isco will find a club before tonight's deadline, but if an offer comes in, they will be only too happy to study it.

          17.37 GMT: Scott Parker looks as if he will get the striker he wanted after all, as reports in England say Fulham are closing in on a loan deal for Bordeaux and ex-Sunderland forward Josh Maja.

          The 22-year-old, who previously spent time as a youth player with Fulham, has scored nine goals in 20 Ligue 1 starts since moving to France in January 2019. With Aleksandar Mitrovic short of confidence at the moment, and Ivan Cavaleiro playing out of position, the relegation-threatened Cottagers could really do with an injection of goals.

          17.23 GMT: Sami Khedira is back, as the ex-Germany international has joined Hertha Berlin on a sixth-month contract.

          The move ends a five-year spell in Italy for the 33-year-old, who had not appeared this season for Juventus. Khedira previously spent 2006 to 2010 in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.

          17.16 GMT: West Brom have agreed a deal with Arsenal to loan Ainsley Maitland-Niles until the end of the season, sources have told ESPN.

          The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at Emirates Stadium but had attracted interest from several clubs including Southampton and Leicester. The Gunners were keen on Maitland-Niles joining Saints after ruling out Leicester because they did not want to strengthen a direct rival.

          West Brom are currently 19th in the Premier League, nine points adrift of safety, but Maitland-Niles has agreed to join Sam Allardyce's side as he seeks regular game time in the hope he can force his way into England manager Gareth Southgate's thinking for this summer's delayed Euro 2020 finals. Maitland-Niles will undergo a medical in the coming hours, finalising a deal that is expected to include a verbal agreement he will primarily play in his preferred central midfield position.

          17.03 GMT: Another American right-back is on the move, as DeAndre Yedlin has swapped Newcastle for Galatasaray.

          The 27-year-old, whose contract at Newcastle was set to expire at the end of the season, joins the Turkish giants after 4½ seasons at St James' Park.

          16.40 GMT: Liverpool's deal for Schalke 04's Ozan Kabak is done, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

          Liverpool have yet to confirm, but Di Marzio says Kabak, of Turkey, will arrive initially on loan, with the Reds then obligated to buy the 20-year-old. Liverpool are also closing in on a move for Preston North End's Ben Davies, as the Reds try to add defensive reinforcements with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all out injured.

          16.24 GMT: Brighton have sealed their move for Ecuadorian sensation Moises Caicedo.

          The 19-year-old, who was also linked heavily with Manchester United, is a major coup for the Seagulls and boss Graham Potter. Caicedo arrives after prolonged negotiations with Independiente del Valle for an initial £4.5 million on a contract through 2025.

          16.19 GMT: As expected, AS Roma have announced they have signed young American right-back Bryan Reynolds from FC Dallas.

          The deal is an initial loan with an obligation to buy and ends a monthlong tug-of-war between Roma and Juventus for the player. The 19-year-old, who has only made 31 first-team appearances, is just the latest highly rated talent to come through the FC Dallas academy and joins an ever-growing list of Americans landing at top European clubs.

          "We couldn't be happier for Bryan and his family," FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a club statement. "Bryan is a true testament to the Academy process. From playing on fields in Fort Worth as a child to competing professionally for us in Frisco and now in Italy, he has inspired a generation of North Texas soccer players with the idea of what's possible through a pathway at FC Dallas."

          16.02 GMT: Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig will sign centre-back Mohamed Simakan from RC Strasbourg for around €15m on July 1.

          Simakan, 20, almost joined AC Milan this window but got injured, and the Italian side opted to bring in Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea on loan instead.

          Leipzig will surely be looking for a replacement for Dayot Upamecano in the summer; now they have one.

          15.50 GMT: Fulham are in talks with Bournemouth over the transfer of Joshua King, while Diego Rossi of LAFC is set to sign for Reading, says Di Marzio.

          King, 28, is a free agent in the summer and has already seen a move to Southampton fall through. He nearly joined Manchester United this time last year, but that also came to nothing.

          Rossi, 22, was Major League Soccer's leading goal scorer with 14 goals last season and was voted to the 2020 MLS Best XI.

          15.36 GMT: Blackburn have signed Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.

          15.30 GMT: Young American players have been a feature of the January transfer window.

          15.28 GMT: FC Dallas right-back Bryan Reynolds will be unveiled later today in Rome.

          Reynolds joins Roma on loan, with an obligation to sign him in the summer for €6.75m as well as €5m potential add-ons.

          15.17 GMT: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Phil Jones will be added to Manchester United's Premier League squad for the second half of the season as he closes in on a return to first-team football.

          Jones has not played for more than a year after undergoing knee surgery and was left out of United's original 25-man squad when it was submitted to the Premier League in October. The 28-year-old still has 2½ years left on his contract at Old Trafford, and Solskjaer says the England defender could return soon.

          "Phil has been recovering from a knee injury," Solskjaer said on Monday. "He will be included on the list and hopefully he'll get his fitness back sooner rather than later and be available to play."

          15.02 GMT: Ajax are set to sign Sevilla's Oussama Idrissi on loan with an €18m option to sign him permanently, Voetbal International says.

          Idrissi, 24, has not played much this season. The Morocco winger will replace Quincy Promes, who is set to return to Spartak Moscow.

          14.45 GMT: Arsenal fans are still hopeful of something happening, but Fabrizio Romano reports that winger Reiss Nelson is not moving to Valencia on loan. Other clubs are interested, so stayed tuned on that one.

          14.34 GMT: The Daily Telegraph reports that Rochdale winger Kwadwo Baah will join Manchester City in the summer.

          Baah, 18, is highly rated and his contract expires in 2021, so he has signed a pre-contract agreement and will head to the Etihad. City will pay a small fee for the winger, but he will stay at Rochdale for another six months.

          14.09 GMT: Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has denied being involved in leaking Lionel Messi's contract to Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

          Messi's four-year deal, which was signed in 2017, was released in full on Sunday and revealed that the Barca forward stood to make a maximum of €555 million over the course of the contract, making him the highest-paid athlete of all time.

          Sources have confirmed to ESPN that Messi plans to pursue legal action against the newspaper and anyone from the Catalan club found to have been involved in leaking the terms.

          14.00 GMT: Bayern's U.S. defender Chris Richards has moved to Hoffenheim on loan.

          13.45 GMT: What a few months for U.S. and Schalke teenager Matthew Hoppe.

          13.31 GMT: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the club will not make any signings today.

          "I can confirm there won't be anyone coming in, so don't stay up late," he told a news conference.

          But we've heard that before ...

          13.28 GMT: Schalke are in talks with Arsenal over a deal for defender Shkodran Mustafi, sources have told ESPN's James Olley.

          Mustafi, 28, would be a replacement for Liverpool-bound Ozan Kabak and would join on a permanent deal as his contract expires in the summer.

          One source told ESPN "it is not a big number," with Arsenal prepared to do business for around £3m. Mustafi has started just six times in all competitions this season and is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League.

          The German is in the final six months of his deal and is ready to return to his homeland to resurrect his career having joined Arsenal from Valencia for £35m in 2016.

          13.10 GMT: Manchester United defender Teden Mengi is set to join Wayne Rooney's Derby County on loan before the transfer deadline, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

          Mengi, 18, is highly rated at Old Trafford and will join the Championship side until the end of the season. Meanwhile, both Marcos Rojo and his agent are in Argentina to finalise a move to Boca Juniors.

          There has also been interest in a host of players including Brandon Williams, Dan James and Axel Tuanzebe, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to keep the bulk of his squad together after sanctioning the departures of Jesse Lingard, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Facundo Pellistri and Odion Ighalo this month.

          12.46 GMT: Bayern Munich won't be moving for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos when his contract expires in the summer, according to club director Oliver Kahn

          "We're losing David Alaba," the former Germany goalkeeper told Sky 90. "We made him an offer a while ago. He didn't accept this offer. I also understand that a player like him, who's been at Bayern Munich for a long time, is looking for a new challenge now. We have to think about who could be an adequate replacement for David. As a player, I'd love to have played with Ramos, but there's nothing in [him coming to Bayern]."

          12.27 GMT: Real Madrid midfielder Isco has asked to leave the club, according to Spanish outlet Cuatro.

          Isco, 28, has made just three La Liga appearances this season and is keen to leave Madrid in order to get more game time ahead of Spain's Euro 2020 campaign this summer. But the Madrid hierarchy believe it is very difficult to sanction a move for the player at the 11th hour with no replacement lined up.

          12.15 GMT: Watford have completed the signing of Mitchel Bergkamp, son of Arsenal legend Dennis.

          Bergkamp, 22, has joined the Championship side on a six-month deal, after spending time on trial at Arsenal. He is an attacking midfielder but is keen to play down any comparisons with his famous father.

          "When I was younger it was difficult [to be compared all the time] but I've adapted to it now," Bergkamp told Watford's official club website. "It's just my name and I'm my own player and hopefully I can leave my own legacy. He's been amazing to me and for me. He's my No.1 fan and has always been there for me. It's a privilege to have him as my dad and to work with him on my game."

          Yesterday, the club announced the signing of Maurizio Pochettino, son of PSG manager Mauricio, who joins the club's U23s.

          12.09 GMT: Manchester City won't be signing Diego Costa despite their striker shortage, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

          Costa is a free agent after leaving Atletico Madrid but City are not interested in signing the former Chelsea man even as cover for Sergio Aguero, who has struggled with injury and illness this season.

          Aguero is back in training after recovering from COVID-19 but will have to prove his fitness if he hopes to be involved against Burnley on Wednesday.

          However, Sky Sports reports: "An unnamed top-six Premier League club has offered Costa the chance to sign for them on a deal until the end of the season." Leicester and West Ham are in the Premier League's top six currently, so watch this space. Our money is on West Ham.

          11.59 GMT: Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has spoken about United States international DeAndre Yedlin's move to Galatasaray.

          Yedlin, 27, is set to move to Turkey after both clubs agreed on a fee for the right-back.

          "I'd like to wish DeAndre the very best of luck in Turkey," Bruce said. "He's certainly playing for a huge club in Galatasaray, so I wish him the best of luck. He's a great pro and a great lad, and sometimes you have to make decisions to let one out."

          11.44 GMT: Udinese will complete the loan signing of Manchester City academy star Jayden Braaf, sources have told ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

          Braaf, 18, will join the Serie A side on a six-month loan deal, and also attracted interest from the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig both monitoring him. But he will be offered first-team football at Udinese and that eventually swung the balance in their favour. The young winger is yet to break into Manchester City's first team but is highly regarded at the club.

          11.35 GMT: Newcastle United, Leicester City and Watford are all looking to bolster their squads before the transfer window shuts, but their fortunes all hinge on other clubs moving players on in a potential triangle of moves, sources have told ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

          Newcastle are keen on Leicester's Hamza Choudhury, Watford want Newcastle's Matty Longstaff, and Leicester are then looking to bring in Watford's Nathaniel Chalobah, to complete the triangle.

          Watford are keen to sign Longstaff on a permanent deal, though the player favours a loan move; Leicester want a loan for Chalobah, sources said, while Watford are open to a permanent transfer; Choudhury's move to Newcastle would be on a six-month loan.

          11.19 GMT: U.S. teenager Matthew Hoppe is set to extend his stay at Schalke 04 until 2023, sources have told ESPN's Stephan Uersfeld.

          The 19-year-old has enjoyed an impressive campaign and contributed five goals in his first nine Bundesliga appearances. With his existing deal set to expire this summer, Hoppe is set to sign a new three-year deal at Schalke, valid for both the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, sources said.

          11.02 GMT: New Zealand international defender Winston Reid has joined Brentford FC on loan from West Ham until the end of the season.

          10.58 GMT: Tottenham are set to recall young striker Troy Parrott from his loan at Millwall and send him elsewhere, with Ipswich linked, the Standard says.

          Spurs are also deciding whether to allow Japhet Tanganga to leave for West Brom on loan, The Daily Mail says. The 21-year-old defender isn't getting much first-team football but may be needed for injury cover in the second half of the season.

          10.40 GMT: Danny Rose's potential move to Trabzonspor is off, sources have told ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

          Rose, 30, was set to join the Turkish side on a permanent deal, but he has opted against taking up their offer. He now looks likely to play out the rest of the season at Tottenham but has not been named in their Premier League or Europa League squads with Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon ahead of him in the pecking order.

          The former England international is likely to leave in the summer with his contract up in June. West Brom have shown interest, but sources said this is unlikely to materialise in a move on transfer deadline day.

          10.18 GMT: RMC reports that Marseille have sent a loan offer to Celtic for midfielder Olivier Ntcham, who would replace Morgan Sanson after his move to Aston Villa.

          10.15 GMT: West Brom will make their first deadline day transfer, bringing in Turkey international midfielder Okay Yokuslu from Celta Vigo on loan, sources have told ESPN's Tom Hamilton.

          The 26-year-old is undergoing his medical at the Hawthorns and becomes Sam Allardyce's fourth signing of the transfer window, following Robert Snodgrass, Andy Lonergan and Mbaye Diagne. He has played 16 times for Celta Vigo this season and can cover midfield and centre-back.

          10.08 GMT: (UPDATE ON 08.11 GMT) The Daily Telegraph reports that Chelsea teenager Billy Gilmour will be staying at the club.

          Gilmour, 19, will be a part of the first team under Thomas Tuchel, it seems.

          10.00 GMT: Mikel Arteta has admitted he is hoping for no "bad surprises" as Arsenal work on completing several late deals before Monday's deadline.

          The Gunners are in the market for a backup left-back with Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt and Southampton's Ryan Bertrand under consideration as both players are out of contract at their respective clubs this summer. The move will in part depend on offloading Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is attracting interest on loan from Southampton and Leicester while the club are also open to allowing Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock to depart if suitable agreements can be found.

          Arteta was coy on the details at a Monday morning news conference but said: "[Deadline day] is what it is, at least when you know what you want to do, what you want to achieve, it is easier. Hopefully we won't have any bad surprises and we can control what we want to do. The last day of the transfer window is always unpredictable so things can happen. They might happen, they might not happen. We are on it.

          "We have decided [who could leave on loan today] and we are working on it. You will find out before 11 p.m. "I cannot speak about any individual players. What we want to do, the conversations we've had, the various reasons ... Let's see if we can get something done tonight."

          Arteta also revealed the sheer volume of conversations he has with technical director Edu about player recruitment. He said: "Probably in the last year, I have spoken to Edu more than anyone else in my life! That's what my wife says because of the things we have to go through, with coronavirus as well, the transfers, luckily enough we have a great relationship, a great understanding and we support each other in a great way. It is lucky that if you have to talk to someone many times around the deadline day that the relationship is strong."

          09.46 GMT: Manchester City youth defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis is set to join Blackburn on loan, Football Insider says.

          Harwood-Bellis, 19, has been on the fringes of the first team but hasn't really broken through and will get valuable experience on loan.

          09.40 GMT: America are close to complete a loan move for Spanish midfielder Alvaro Fidalgo from Castellon, sources have told ESPN Deportes.

          Fidalgo, 23, didn't play at the weekend and the deal would also include an option to buy should it be announced in the coming hours.

          America manager Santiago Solari knows Fidalgo well as the midfielder played at the Real Madrid academy before moving to Castellon.

          09.22 GMT: Sven Botman was one player that Liverpool had been tracking, but now that they are signing Ben Davies, the Lille defender won't be leaving at all, Fabrizio Romano says.

          Botman, 21, hasn't been the subject of any talks this month apparently. But he's certainly one to watch in the summer.

          09.31 GMT: Nottingham Forest have signed veteran striker Glenn Murray from Brighton on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

          Manager Chris Hughton said of the 37-year-old: "Glenn is a player I know very well and he has an excellent pedigree at this level. Certainly he will add leadership and experience to our squad between now and the end of the season. He is a proven goal scorer at Premier League and Championship level and has continued to keep himself fit so we are looking forward to what he can bring to the squad ahead of a busy run of fixtures."

          09.11 GMT: Everton goalkeeper Jonas Lossl has joined FC Midtjylland for free and has signed a contract until 2025.

          08.51 GMT: Given nobody has any money at the moment the future of €222m-man Neymar hasn't been talked about much in January. But, after a year of speculation linking him with a return to Barcelona, the Brazilian has revealed that he is keen to stay at PSG now under new manager Mauricio Pochettino and hopes that star Kylian Mbappe does the same.

          "I am very happy today," he said in an interview with TF1. "I feel happy. Things have changed a lot, I can't exactly explain why -- if it's just me, or something else has changed.

          "But today, I am feeling good. I have adapted. I feel calmer and I'm very happy here. I want to stay at PSG, and I hope Kylian will stay too. Of course, that is the wish of every PSG supporter. We want PSG to be a great team, and I want to continue doing what I've done every day in Paris -- play football and be happy. That is the most important thing."

          08.40 GMT: Marcos Rojo will undergo a medical on Monday in Buenos Aires ahead of signing a three-year contract with Boca Juniors, according to Ole.

          The Argentina international defender has reportedly terminated his contract with Manchester United that was supposed to run until the summer to join Boca as a free agent. Rojo, 30, had played just two games in 14 months for United.

          08.30 GMT: Besiktas have signed Turkey striker Cenk Tosun from Everton on loan for the season.

          08.28 GMT: Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano for his release clause of €42.5m in the summer -- but will face competition from two Premier League clubs.

          "We agreed on a release clause because the player decided that he wants to make the next step at some point," his agent, Volker Struth, said on Sport 1 Doppelpass on Sunday. "There is a good chance he will leave [Leipzig] in the summer."

          Bayern met with Struth late last week and the agent confirmed that the German champions "underlined they are very interested" in Upamecano.

          "The release clause is at €42.5m," Struth said. "It's a lot in corona[virus] times. It was different back in the summer of 2019."

          With the price set, not a lot of clubs can weigh in, and the defender's decision will be between Bayern "or the Premier League," the agent said.

          "The Spanish clubs in question currently are not capable of it. It's no secret there are two interested Premier League clubs," he added. "There will be a decision in the coming weeks and it'll be announced."

          08.11 GMT: Chelsea teenager Billy Gilmour in talks over loan move to Southampton, says The Daily Mail.

          The 19-year-old has been left out of all new manager Thomas Tuchel's squads so far and he needs to move in order to play for Scotland at Euro 2020.

          08.05 GMT: Joshua King and Shane Long are set to swap clubs, reports The Athletic.

          Bournemouth's King is a free agent in the summer and is looking for a new club, which Southampton can evidently get him by allowing Long to move in the other direction.

          The report states: "The proposal is for Norway forward King, who has scored 48 goals in 161 Premier League appearances and 17 in 51 for his country, to join Southampton on a permanent basis for a small fee and Republic of Ireland striker Long to head the other way on loan with an option to buy."

          07.58 GMT: ICYMI - Manchester United have loaned winger Facundo Pellistri to Alaves for the remainder of the season. Pellistri, 19, moves to La Liga to gain first-team experience having made several appearances for United's under-23 side since joining last summer.

          07.30 GMT: Newcastle United are pushing to sign Arsenal's Joe Willock on loan, The Daily Mail reports.

          Willock hasn't quite been able to break into the Gunners' first team so far this season, and with the Magpies needing reinforcements in their battle against the drop, the 21-year-old could serve as a breath of fresh air.

          07.22 GMT: Sky Germany is reporting that Hertha Berlin are making a late push to sign Milot Rashica on loan from Werder Bremen. If they do manage to get a deal over the finish line then there would be an obligation to buy attached to it, which could come into effect as soon as the end of the season.

          07.10 GMT: RMC Sport is reporting that Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo is set to make another loan move away from the club, this time to Nice.

          Todibo is currently out on loan with Portuguese side Benfica but is struggling for time in the starting XI, and barring a problem with his impending medical, he'll be heading back over to France with Nice.

          07.00 GMT: Celtic are set to sign Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny on loan until the end of the season, The Daily Mail reports. The Scottish giants have failed to make much of an impact in the league. And as they prepare to hand their crown over to Rangers, the plan seems to be that they'll give it their best shot until it becomes official -- and Kenny looks to be part of those efforts.
