Toe Poke Daily: Arsenal's Granit Xhaka storming off is not the most shocking thing in this picture

The Toe Poke Daily is here every day to bring you all the weirdest stories, quirkiest viral content and top trolling that the internet has to offer, all in one place.

We were treated to another eventful afternoon at Arsenal this weekend as captain Granit Xhaka found himself at the centre of a cacophony of boos from his own fans during the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

Cheers rang around the Emirates when Xhaka's number went up on the hour mark, which soon made way to angry jeering when the Swiss midfielder cupped his ear and aimed several choice words toward the terraces in retaliation.

Amid all the hubbub surrounding the skipper's controversial departure, a keen-eyed onlooker spotted an even weirder sight in the background.

For reasons entirely unexplained, one supporter had decided to attend the game wearing his bathrobe, which it transpired was an Arsenal-branded dressing gown sourced from the official club store.

Admittedly, there was a distinct autumnal chill in the North London air on Sunday, and it is on sale at a knockdown price, but still the fleecy gown seems more than a little excessive.

Perhaps even stranger is that the Gooner in question isn't even the first match-going supporter to be spotted wearing a bathrobe.

Celtic

With temperatures dipping in Scotland, this enterprising Hearts fan opted to attend a home game against the Bhoys tucked up snugly in his maroon nightwear.

Hellas Verona

This supporter in Italy actually ended up receiving a stadium ban from the football authorities after attending a game whilst wearing a robe, a swimming hat, his trunks and flip-flops.

Everton

Goodison Park legend "Speedo Mick" has made it his life's mission to make things awkward for fellow fans by watching every Toffees game in his swimming trunks, all in the name of raising maoney for charity.

Stoke City

Honouring a prematch wager, Peter Crouch handed over his shirt to a Potters fan who made the frankly questionable decision to travel 166 miles to Southampton wearing nothing but his scuba kit for the final game of the 2016-17 season.

Chelsea

Eyebrows were raised in 2009 when a Blues fan was spotted brushing his teeth in the stands at Stamford Bridge. Alas, a decade on and the mystery remains unsolved.

Zaha sees funny side after being rugby tackled by Guendouzi

Matteo Guendouzi was perhaps lucky to still be on the pitch at the end of Arsenal's eventful draw with Palace after getting himself embroiled in an almighty tangle with Wilfried Zaha.

As both sides pushed for an injury-time winner, Guendouzi put a bodily stop to a late Palace counter-attack by almost rugby tackling Zaha to the ground as he attempted to charge upfield in the 96th minute.

There were subsequent calls for the French youngster to be red-carded for his cynical takedown, but Zaha was content to merely share a wry take on the incident after the game.

The Ivory Coast winger observed that Guendouzi's tackle might have been more suited to the other game taking place across London, where the LA Rams were facing the Cincinnati Bengals at Wembley.

To be fair, he's definitely got a point.

Manchester United strikers offered penalty coaching by ex-keeper Stepney, 77

Manchester United registered a 3-1 win over Norwich on Sunday afternoon but it's fair to say the scoreline could, and perhaps should have been even more convincing.

Indeed, United missed two penalties during the first half at Carrow Road, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both failing to convert from the spot within 15 minutes of each another.

Thankfully, club legend Alex Stepney was on hand to offer the pair some advice in their hour of need.

Of course, fans will know that Stepney was a goalkeeper during his playing days, making over 530 appearances between the sticks for United in the 1960s and 70s.

However, he also did a neat sideline in taking penalties, scoring two spot kicks in the first half of the 1973-74 season which saw the stopper adopt the unique position of being United's top scorer at Christmas.

In short, he knows a thing or two about finding the net from 12 yards.
