Fierce rivals Malaysia and Indonesia will renew hostilities once again at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, after both were pitted against one another in Tuesday's group-stage draw. The two teams, who faced off earlier this year in the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, were drawn alongside each other in Group B of the tournament, which will take place from Dec. 5, 2021 to Jan. 1, 2022 having been postponed twice from its original schedule at the end of last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Malaysia and Indonesia will also face another familiar foe in Vietnam, with the defending champions also part of the same second-round qualifying group for the World Cup, as well as Cambodia and Laos in Group B.  Over in Group A, record five-time champions Thailand look to have a slightly more straightforward route to the semi-finals but the second last-four spot is likely to be keenly contested by Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, as well as the winner of the qualifier between Timor-Leste and Brunei Darussalam. Thailand have long been regarded as Southeast Asian football's leading team but have been overtaken in recent years by Vietnam, and will be looking to reassert their authority by claiming a 6th regional crown at the upcoming Suzuki Cup.
