Manchester United's Andreas Pereira wants talks over future - sources

MANCHESTER -- Andreas Pereira is set to seek talks with manager Jose Mourinho before deciding on his Manchester United future, sources have told ESPN FC.

Midfielder Pereira, 22, has spent this season on loan at Valencia, helping them challenge for a place in the 2018-19 Champions League.

He is expected back at Old Trafford, where he is keen to establish himself as a regular squad member, in the summer.

However, sources told ESPN FC he would seek assurances from Mourinho about his potential role next season before deciding whether to stay or seek another loan.

Pereira, who signed a contract extension in September, made 37 appearances on loan at Granada last season and has played 24 times for Valencia.

Sources said Pereira's long-term ambition is to break through at United, but he wants to continue his development by playing regular first-team football.

They added that Mourinho's coaching staff, as well as United officials, have been impressed with his contribution at Valencia.

However, that will not stop Mourinho from pursuing at least one central midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Michael Carrick is set to retire, while there are doubts about the future of Marouane Fellaini, who has still not signed a new contract and could leave for free at the end of the season.

Sources told ESPN FC that United have an interest in Jean Michael Seri, of Nice, and Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Ivory Coast international Seri, 26, has been watched by United's head of global scouting Marcel Bout.

Meanwhile, United have announced that academy defenders Jake Barrett and Harry Spratt have been released. The pair, both 18, will join Huddersfield Town.
