Manchester United's Marcos Rojo not in line for PSG move - source

PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain are not planning a summer move for Manchester United's Marco Rojo at present, a source close to the club has told ESPN FC.

Various reports have linked the Argentina international with a switch to Parc des Princes after negotiations over a contract extension at Old Trafford broke down.

However, according to the source, claims that PSG are already trying to take him to France are wide of the mark.

The Ligue 1 leaders are currently fighting for glory on four fronts -- domestic and European -- and trail Real Madrid 3-1 from the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie, with coach Unai Emery's future depending on a place in the semifinals.

Emery was whistled and booed by sections of the PSG crowd before Saturday's 5-2 victory over Strasbourg as a result of the defeat against Madrid.

A place in the semis, though, would automatically add another 12 months to Emery's current deal, meaning everything is up in the air for PSG right now.

The source said that with Emery's contract coming to an end and with his future uncertain with the Champions League hanging in the balance, that sporting director Antero Henrique is not pushing ahead and pursuing any new players.

But summer sales are still a possibility to stay in line with UEFA's financial fair play (FFP) rules if European football's governing body decide that PSG have infringed them, and a new coach will be sought if Emery fails to land a place in the final four.

On top of that, PSG already know that their first target in the summer will be an adequate long-term replacement for Thiago Motta as they could only afford Lassana Diarra in January due to FFP uncertainties.

A left-back could also be required after Layvin Kurzawa changed agent recently in preparation for a possible summer exit.

PSG could show an interest in Rojo this summer but that is unlikely to happen before a decision is made on Emery's future and any potential new coach has discussed their vision for the team with Henrique.
