Miguel Layun, Jesus Corona seal Porto deals ahead of deadline

Mexico internationals Miguel Layun and Jesus Corona have joined Porto, the Portuguese club announced on Monday.

The 27-year-old Layun joins from Watford a one-year loan with an option to buy for €6m, while Corona's deal is permanent.

"I feel great, happy to be here and to be part of this great team, that is used to fighting for the biggest goals, due to their greatness," Layun told Porto's website.

"I am eager to start training, to be at the same level as my teammates and to fight for a spot in the starting team.

"The present is always the best moment, but I've definitely reached my full maturity. Emotionally, I'm in a great moment and all that will help me with the best performances on the pitch."

Layun, who can play full-back and midfield, scored his only Premier League goal in the Hornet's season-opening draw at Everton on Aug. 8.

He joined Watford in the second half of last season, helping them to promotion to the Premier League after being sold by Granada in January.

Corona, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder who arrives from FC Twente, signed a five-year deal with a buyout clause of €50 million.

A stand-out in the Under-20 World Cup in 2013, Corona, then with Monterrey, impressed against Chelsea at the 2012 Club World Cup and was rewarded with a move to the Dutch squad in the winter window. And his move to Portuguese giants is seen as a big step in his budding career.

"I'm a daring player, who hopes to keeping working and improving in my career," Corona said after signing on Monday.

Both have been regulars in Mexico's national squad, with Layun making 25 appearances for El Tri while the young Corona has made 14.
