Liverpool's Ragnar Klavan completes move to Cagliari in Serie A

LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool have confirmed Ragnar Klavan has left the team for Serie A club Cagliari.

Klavan departs Liverpool after two full seasons at the club, with a source telling ESPN FC that the Italian side have paid £2 million for the 32-year-old.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp personally sanctioned the move due to Klavan's desire for regular game time as he approaches the end of his career and his confidence in Joe Gomez's performances at centre-half of late.

Klopp is satisfied with his options in the heart of the defence as Joel Matip returns from a thigh injury, while Fabinho and academy defender Nathaniel Phillips are considered to be options in the position this season.

Klavan joined Liverpool in the summer of 2016 from Bundesliga side Augsburg for €5m and made 53 appearances in all competitions, scoring on two occasions.
