Juventus, who have lost only once this season -- 4-2 at Sassuolo at the end of September -- are two points behind league leaders Inter Milan, and four points above third-placed AC Milan.

They have kept a clean sheet in each of their last six games.

The matchin Florence went ahead despite the Tuscany region being severely hit by Storm Ciaran and the resulting flooding, which left seven people dead and one missing on Saturday after rivers burst their banks following torrential rain.

Some Fiorentina fans boycotted the match in protest that it had not been postponed because of the bad weather, Italian media reported.

Fiorentina kept possession as they went in search of an equaliser immediately after going behind but they were unable to convert their chances.

Of their 25 attempts, only four were on target, compared to three out of four from the visitors.

Juve keeper Wojciech Szczesny had little to do, though he dived far to his left to deny Nicolas Gonzalez from the edge of the box around the half-hour mark before saving an attempt by Cristiano Biraghi from a free kick before the break.

After a five-game unbeaten streak, Fiorentina have now lost their last three Serie A games without scoring, their worst run of scoreless matches since four consecutive defeats with no goals in May 2019.

Fiorentina, who could have moved up to fifth with a win, are eighth on 17 points.

They next host sixth-placed Bologna in Serie A on Nov. 12 after a trip to Serbian side Cukaricki in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.

Juventus host lowly Cagliari on Saturday.
