Manchester United's reserves relegated from PL2 top flight

Manchester United's reserves have been relegated.

The club's under-23 team dropped out of Premier League Two's top division after Derby County beat West Ham 1-0 on Monday.

With one game remaining, Ricky Sbragia's team are now assured of finishing in the bottom two of Division One's 12 teams and will spend next season in Division Two alongside the likes of Fulham and Reading.

United's reserves have been crowned champions of Division One in three of the past five seasons but a dismal campaign this term has seen them win just four of their 21 games.

Sbragia is in his first season in charge of the U23s since returning to Old Trafford in the summer.

The under-23s' season is in contrast to United's success at the under-18 level this season after Kieran McKenna's side clinched the Northern title with victory over Manchester City on Saturday.

The U18s next face a final against Southern title winners Chelsea.
