Manchester City to use spy cameras in case of bus attack on return to Anfield - sources

Manchester City will use high definition "spy-cam" cameras on their team bus for Sunday's Premier League trip to Liverpool in case there is a repeat of the incident in which missiles were thrown at it last season, sources have told ESPN FC.

The City bus was hit by bottles and flares as it approached Anfield before April's Champions League quarterfinal first leg at Anfield.

Damage to the bus was so severe, with a number of windows smashed, that City had to travel back to Manchester on a replacement vehicle.

Sources said that although City have faith in Sunday's trip passing off peacefully following a number of meetings with the Liverpool authorities, they are determined to do everything possible to prevent a repeat.

The bus has been fitted with high definition cameras with the ability to swivel through 360 degrees and zoom in on any potential missile throwers.

City's want to be able to provide photographic evidence to police, helping identify any perpetrators, should there be a repeat of last April's attack.

Their bus will take a different route to the stadium on Sunday, with last season's route seen as having been a factor in the incident.
