Sylvester Stallone to give rousing halftime speech at Everton

As celebrity fans go, Everton have more than their fair share of not-totally-embarrassing ones, with the likes of Paul McCartney, John Hurt and even Dame Judi Dench supposedly proud to call themselves Blue.

Of the more unlikely personalties to declare their undying support for the Toffees, however, is one Sylvester Stallone, who forged an everlasting bond with the club after being invited to Everton's Premier League game against Reading by friend and business partner Robert Earl in 2007.

If everything goes to plan, Sly is scheduled to make his grand return to Goodison for Monday night's match against West Brom, with the club promising their supporters an appearance from Liverpudlian boxer Tony Bellew as well as one of his "special friends".

Indeed, according to the Liverpool Echo, Stallone is due to don his Everton shirt and deliver a motivational speech via the big screen at halftime as part of the promotional junket for his latest movie.

Stallone is on Merseyside to promote his new film "Creed", in which the action star reprises his role as Rocky Balboa, who is charged with training Apollo Creed's grandson, Adonis Creed, ahead of a world title fight with Pretty Boy Porter, as played by Bellew.

And yes, the year is 2015 and they are still making Rocky movies -- just in case you were wondering!
