Transfer Talk: Liverpool might swoop for Paulo Dybala if Juventus get Cristiano Ronaldo

The transfer window is open, and Transfer Talk has the latest rumours making the rounds. Follow along with our daily blog throughout the summer.

TOP STORY: Liverpool eye Dybala if Juve land Ronaldo

While Cristiano Ronaldo-to-Juventus dominates the rumour mill, Liverpool are reportedly plotting an audacious move for Juve's Paulo Dybala. That's according to Tuttomercatoweb, who reports the Reds have already made an enquiry for the Argentinian.

Dybala was used just once at the World Cup as Argentina crashed out at the last-16 stage, but he dazzled for Juve on their way to another domestic double, hitting 27 goals in all competitions.

A move by the Old Lady for Ronaldo would not necessarily come at the expense of Dybala, though a hypothetical sale likely would generate a fee similar to the roughly £140 million Liverpool received for Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, and thus in excess of what Juve are rumoured to have bid for Ronaldo.

"Harry has been one of the best defenders in the World Cup and he certainly fits Liverpool's philosophy. I can't speak more highly of him", he said.

"No disrespect to Leicester but I can't see him being there come the end of the transfer window. I think he would have been £50 million before the World Cup and probably a bit more now. But I think he would be worth it."

PAPER TALK (By Jack Rathborn)

West Ham close in on £15m move for Wilshere

West Ham are close to signing free agent Jack Wilshere, having offered the 26-year-old midfielder a three-year deal worth £15m, reports The Sun.

Wilshere decided last month to leave Arsenal, ending a 17-year stint at his boyhood club after being told he wouldn't be a prominent part of new manager Unai Emery's rebuilding process.

Everton reject Lookman bid

Everton have rejected a £12m offer from RB Leipzig for Ademola Lookman after the 20-year-old's exciting loan spell in the second half of last season, claims the Mirror.

The winger scored five goals and assisted on four in 11 Bundesliga appearances to convince Leipzig to pursue a permanent move.

Everton manager Marco Silva is keen to work with Lookman, though the Toffees might find it difficult to pass up the opportunity to take the money from a sale and put it toward perhaps multiple new signings.

Barca ponder benefit of selling Paulinho

Barcelona are reviewing an offer for Paulinho just a year after signing the Brazilian midfielder from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande for €40m.

The motivation to sell the 29-year-old is not purely to claim a profit. The Brazil international's sale also would free up a non-EU spot in the squad, reports Sport.

What's more, a sale at that price could enable Barcelona to reinvest the money in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, with whom they've been linked.

Tap-ins

- AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are deep in talks over Nikola Kalinic, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. The Spanish club have proposed a loan deal with an obligation to buy. (Bayer Leverkusen also put in an offer, to buy outright.) The Croatian striker cost Milan €25m after a season on loan and was recently sent home from the World Cup for refusing to come on as a substitute after claiming to have a back injury.

- Liverpool hope to complete a deal for Ajax's 16-year-old right-back Ki-Jana Hoever. The Liverpool Echo claims the Netherlands youth international will be the latest academy signing after Manchester City's Bobby Duncan and Chelsea's Isaac Christie-Davies arrived.

- Wolves have agreed a initial £12m fee with Manchester City for Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Express and Star says the fee could rise to £16m with add-ons. The 21-year-old midfielder impressed last season out of position at left-back in Benjamin Mendy's absence.
