Chelsea and Wolfsburg wrapped up top spots in Groups A and B, respectively, as the Women's Champions League knockout rounds took shape on the final matchday on Thursday.
In the early kickoffs, Wolfsburg made short work of St. Polten in a 8-2 victory. The visitors took the lead five minutes in on a super strike from Lena Lattwein before Marina Hegering scored her own belter from range.
Svenja Huth, Ewa Pajor and Tabea Wassmuth all got in on the act before Pia Sophie Wolter came off the bench to bag a two-minute brace.
The traffic wasn't all one way however and the hosts pulled back a shock goal through Mateja Zver moments after Wolter's second with Pauline Bremer reopening the gap for Wolfsburg before Rita Schumacher scored the game's 10th and last goal to give the Austrian side something else to cheer.
The win for Wolfsburg meant that the result in the other game in the group mattered not as Roma couldn't finish higher than the Frauen-Bundesliga side. However, the team currently leading Serie A still got the job done in Prague, taking the lead just after the half hour through Valentina Giacinti before Beata Kollmats nodded in a second and Elena Linari added a third after the break.
In the late kickoffs, Real Madrid came from behind to beat Vllaznia 5-1 in a game that had no knockout round implicat. After Megi Doci had put the Albanian in front with a lasered free kick, the hosts rallied and soon had parity restored through Caroline Weir before Teresa Abelleira struck twice in three minutes -- including a penalty -- to turn the match around.
Teenager, Carla Camacho made it four for Las Blancas late in the second half with a head from point-blank range after a fumble from Vllaznia goalkeeper Kaylin Williams-Mosier before Paula Partido caught Williams-Mosier out with a cheeky chip to round out the scoring.
Needing just a draw to progress as group winners, Chelsea beat PSG 3-0 at Stamford Bridge to secure top spot in Group A with ease.
The match was a slow burner with the Blues having to weather light early pressure from the visitors before Sam Kerr gave them the lead with a super strike just before the break.
From there, Chelsea never looked like losing with Lauren James adding two in the second half, as they set the tempo and eased into the next round.
With the group stages done and dusted, Chelsea, Wolfsburg, Arsenal and Barcelona go through as the group winners and PSG, Roma, Lyon and Bayern Munich as the runners up. The draw for the quarterfinals will take place on Feb. 10.
