German side Borussia Monchengladbach are not taking anything for granted after learning they have drawn Young Boys from Swiss Super League in the Champions League playoff round. The Bundesliga side were drawn on Friday against Bern-based Young Boys, who finished second last season. The Foals will play the first leg away at the Stade de Suisse on Aug. 16. The second leg will take place at the Borussia Park on Aug. 23. The Swiss first-division side entered the Champions League qualification in the third round, where they eliminated Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on penalties, after both legs finished 2-2 on aggregate. Gladbach's vice president Rainer Bonhof said the club must be wary of Young Boys, who sit fourth in the ongoing campaign of the Swiss top-flight and will face the German side with seven official matches under their belt. "It might be an advantage that we've played against Bern a few weeks ago in a friendly and know that we mustn't underestimate them," Bonhof told Sky Sport Germany. Both sides drew 3-3 in normal time in a friendly match in June. "I know that we will have great backing by our fans, who supported us well two years ago in Zurich," the vice president added. Borussia played Swiss opponents only once in European competitions. In 2014-15 they've collected four points in the Europa League group stages against FC Zurich. "We should not jump to conclusions just yet, but should wait for the games. However, we have the second leg at home, which would make it possible to fix a scoreline that didn't go our way in the away leg," Bonhof said. The two-time UEFA Cup winners were not successful in the last Champions League playoff round and were demoted to the Europa League by Bosnia-Herzegovina side FK Sarajevo in 2014. Gladbach coach Andre Schubert will have to make do without Swiss national team goalkeeper Yann Sommer due to an ankle injury.
