Ivica Olic is calling time on his career, after announcing he is retiring from professional football. Olic, 37, started out at Marsonia in his home country of Croatia, before moving to CSKA Moscow and then playing for Hamburg, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg and finally 1860 Munich in the Bundesliga. He also made 104 appearances for the Croatian national team, scoring 20 goals. "I'm ready to hang up my boots," Olic told German newspaper Bild. "I think I can leave football with a clear conscience. His career accomplishments at club level include three Russian Premier League titles and a UEFA Cup win in 2005, as well as a league-cup double with Bayern Munich in his first season there in 2009-10. Olic's final season in the Bundesliga was not one to remember, as second-tier 1860 were relegated to Germany's lowest professional league after they lost their relegation playoff against Regensburg at the end of the campaign. He said: "I'm sorry to go when the club were relegated to the third division. I love this traditional club, but in it there have been problems for a long time." The Croatia international scored at both the 2002 and 2014 World Cups. "I am happy, having fun with myself, I had a lot of success and I can say that I gave everything in training and matches. For me it was a dream to play at a high level for so long," Olic said.
