Tottenham must push through 'crisis' period - Eric Dier

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier has said the club are going through a "crisis" after suffering back-to-back defeats in a week.

Spurs endured a 3-0 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday which followed an embarrassing 7-2 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

"We are obviously going through a difficult period," Dier said. "Is saying it's a crisis a bit too strong? No.

"If you lose like we've lost in these last two games, it's normal. For us, this is the worst period we've been in, but we have to be all together and push through it."

Sources have told ESPN FC that tension is running high in the squad between senior players who are not happy with tactical systems.

"The stuff about the squad, I know that's not the case, but it's natural these things will come up now because of the situation we find ourselves in," Dier added.

"It's the first time that we've found ourselves in this position, we can't back down from it. We've got to push through it."

Spurs midfielder Harry Winks has said he is hopeful the club can turn things around and has defended manager Mauricio Pochettino.

"He's our manager," he said. "He's been fantastic ever since he's been at the club and taken the club to new heights.

"At the moment we are going through a bit of a rough patch. That happens in football, every club goes through it.

"It's important we stand up as men and get through these dark times, and hopefully we can get back to playing well and winning as much as we can."

The club confirmed that Spurs captain Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow in the Brighton defeat, but did not detail when he will return to action.

Spurs face Watford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the international break.
