Champions TP Mazembe of DR Congo were held at home in a surprise result by SuperSport United, while CS Sfaxien and Zesco United both posted victories on Sunday to go top of their respective groups in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Mazembe let slip a 2-0 lead to suffer a rare setback at their fortress in Lubumbashi, where a full house of some 25 000 watched their team struggle against their South African opponents.

The 2-2 draw means they share in a three-way tie at the top of the Group D standings with SuperSport and with Horoya of Guinea, who were winners in Gabon on Saturday.

Mazembe scored twice in the space of five minutes midway through first half with midfield maestro Tresor Mputu at helm of the attacks, providing the opening goal in the 21st minute with a deft through-ball for Ben Malongo.

A quick free-kick found Rainford Kalaba, who turned the ball across the goal and into the net five minutes later, but straight from the kick off SuperSport pulled one back through Aubrey Modiba. A 66th-minute free-kick was then swung in by Thabo Mnyamane to the back-post, where teenager Teboho Mokoena ran in unmarked and headed a superb equaliser to make it 2-2.

South Africa's other representatives in the competition, Platinum Stars, were handed a 3-0 hiding at CS Sfaxien and are still without a win in Group B, which the Tunisians now lead by a point from Mouloudia Alger.

Nigerian import Kingsley Sokhari had CS Sfaxien ahead after 12 minutes courtesy of a goalkeeping slip, followed by a second from the spot from Karim Ben Hassan Aouadhi in the 27th minute after a foul by Siyabonga Zulu on veteran Maher Hannachi. The one-sided win was completed soon after the break when Hannachi made it 3-0 again with the assistance of a defensive error.

Zesco's Congolese striker Idris Mbombo scored the only goal of their Group C clash at home to Recreativo Libolo of Angola in Ndola. It was a superb diving header that finished off a mazy run down the right by Dave Daka, whose whipped in ball in the near post saw Mbombo power home.
