Frank Lampard not interested in MK Dons manager's job - sources

Frank Lampard has ruled out becoming MK Dons manager after being sounded out over the job, sources have told ESPN FC.

MK Dons are still searching for a new manager following the departure of Karl Robinson late last month and reports have suggested Lampard was in the frame to take over at the League One outfit after announcing his departure from New York City earlier this week.

Lampard announced he would be leaving MLS side New York City in December once his contract expires, but refused to give away any plans on what he plans to do next in his career.

Soures have told ESPN FC that MK Dons officials made contact with Lampard's representatives to see if he would be interested in the role at Stadium:mk, but the former Chelsea midfielder has declined their overtures as he plans to continue his playing career for another year at least.

Lampard is taking his coaching badges and is looking to get into management once he hangs up his boots, but the player is now considering offers to continue playing.

A return to Chelsea and joining their coaching staff has been mooted if Lampard decides to retire, but sources have told ESPN FC that the former England international has no immediate plans to do that.

The 38-year-old has spent the last two seasons in America and reports have suggested that he could continue his career in MLS amid interest from LA Galaxy and Orlando City.
