Shaquille O'Neal backs Northampton Town to win League Two

Top of the table as they may be, it's still fairly safe to say that Northampton Town aren't exactly the kind of club that find it easy to attract glory-hunting celebrity fans.

Indeed, up until today, Toe Poke weren't aware of a single famous face who has proudly nailed their Cobblers colours to the mast in the past. Not one.

However, it would appear that the League Two leaders can now number at least one big name among their merry band of supporters. In fact, they don't come much bigger -- quite literally!

We are of course talking about NBA royalty Shaquille O'Neal, who has posted one of the most unlikely sporting shout-outs of all time on the official Northampton Town Youtube channel.

Apparently Shaq is good friends with Kelvin Thomas, who just so happens to be Northampton's chairman and also the British businessman responsible for helping to set up the former Lakers star's internet radio station.

Even so, while it's not coming completely out of the blue, it's still bizarre to hear Shaq name-checking the Sixfields stadium!
