Star Perth Glory forward Chris Ikonomidis says the team isn't happy about sitting last on the A-League table, but believes it's just a matter of time before the wins start to flow. Glory were the runaway winners of the Premiers Plate last season, leading from almost start to finish to wrap up the trophy with two games to spare. But it has been a drastically different scenario this season, with the team now last on the table after posting just one win and three draws from their first seven games. They face a tough task to end that rut on Friday night when they take on second-placed Melbourne City at AAMI Park. Ikonomidis is optimistic the tide will soon turn, saying it's merely a case of results not reflecting how well they've been playing. "Obviously we're not happy with where we are on the ladder, but we're not playing bad football," Ikonomidis said. "If it was about performances, we'd be concerned. "It is frustrating (not getting wins), and now is the time where you need to stay calm and keep doing what you believed in, because it has shown success as we saw last year. "It's still early days. A few more wins in the bag and we'll jump right back up the ladder. Everyone is still very positive, and we still very much believe." Glory are averaging just one goal per game this season. It's in stark contrast to last season when they averaged 2.1 per match. Glory are also yet to keep a clean sheet this season. The departure of Andy Keogh and the arrival of Bruno Fornaroli means Glory's attack now has a different aspect to it. Fornaroli has only scored two goals so far this season, but it could have easily been much more if not for a few unlucky moments. Ikonomidis believes the goals will soon come in a rush. "We hit the post twice against Victory. It's just not falling for us," he said. "We're getting into really good areas, but the final pass or shot isn't coming off at the moment. "I think once one goes in, it will just flow like it did last season." Ikonomidis has enjoyed linking up with Fornaroli, and he feels their connection is continuing to grow - both on and off the field. "He actually speaks perfect Italian, and I speak Italian as well," Ikonomidis said. "He speaks good English, but I want to keep my Italian sharp, so I only speak to him in Italian."
