Sydney FC sharpshooter Adam Le Fondre has paid tribute to his teammates for their part in his second hot goalscoring start in as many A-League seasons.
Englishman Le Fondre has scored six goals in Sydney's first seven games - as he did last season - and has netted at least once in each of their last four matches.
His brace away to Western United on Sunday propelled the Blues to a 2-0 win and lifted them to first on the ladder.
"My job is to score goals and work hard at the front," Le Fondre said at Sydney Airport on Monday.
"I've got a great supporting cast around me as well which is helping out too."
The Sky Blues have won four straight since their only loss, outscoring their opponents 11-3 in that period and have registered back-to-back away victories in their last two matches.
"That's the standard we set as a team and what we do," Le Fondre said.
"We're responding from the loss to Western Sydney and we've come out on a four-game winning streak and put teams to the sword."
His double on Sunday pushed him up to 25 A-League goals for Sydney, third highest on their all-time list.
The goals in Geelong moved him past some of Sydney's greatest ever players, teammate Milos Ninkovic and Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero (both 24) and current Sky Blues coach Steve Corica (23).
"It's nice to break landmarks and move further up the Sydney FC history," he said.
Le Fondre is in the second year of his deal with Sydney with an option for next season.
Asked if he could see himself still at Sydney in 12 months he said: "I'd like to think so, obviously the ball is in Sydney's court with that."
German playmaker Alex Baumjohann provided the assist for both of Le Fondre's goals on Sunday, the first from a corner kick and the second from a precise pass.
"That's his job, ain't it, to set me up," Le Fondre joked.
"He's getting more renowned for tackling at the moment, but it's nice for him to set up goals.
"I thought he was really impressive yesterday, I think everyone was brilliant."
