Investigation into security at Western Utd

Football Federation Australia, Sydney FC and GMHBA Stadium will investigate claims that Sky Blues fans were removed from Sunday's A-League game between Western United and Sydney FC - just for standing up.

A number of Sydney FC fans complained on Twitter about the security manning the visitors' bay.

There were claims some supporters from 'The Cove' were reproached for standing in the area with a number either moved out of the bay or from the ground entirely.

The away supporters bay - situated in a corner of GMHBA Stadium - had several security guards in and around the bay throughout the match.

Early in the game, this was largely in the form of staff standing at the ends of the bay, though at times there were security guards in the bay itself.

Sydney FC won the game 2-0 courtesy of two Adam Le Fondre goals in the first half.

An FFA spokesperson said the peak body will investigate the claims on Monday, while a Sydney FC spokesperson also confirmed the club would look into the situation.

A stadium management spokesperson said it would provide a statement about the matter on Monday.
