Barely 36 hours after touching down in Australia from Jordan, Socceroos star Rhyan Grant has played his 200th A-League game for Sydney FC.
He played 90 minutes in Australia's 1-0 World Cup qualifying win on the other side of the world before backing up on Sunday evening in the Big Blue at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.
Incredibly, two 90-minute games with minimal rest did not hamper his effectiveness, coming up with an assist for Kosta Barbarouses to seal a 2-1 comeback win against Melbourne Victory.
"He probably could (play tomorrow) if you asked him," coach Steve Corica said.
"He only arrived back on Saturday morning. He didn't train, we sent him straight home and got him a little bit of treatment in the afternoon. And then to back up 90 minutes again; I really think Rhyan has gone to another level this season.
"I think the confidence he's got out of the Socceroos, he's gone to a new level and he's doing a great job."
Grant, first selected in 2018 for the Socceroos, has since become a mainstay in the squad.
And despite the travelling distance between Jordan and Kogarah, there was no way he was going to miss his 200th game for the club against arch rivals Victory.
The 29-year-old has been a one-club man since debuting in 2008 for Sydney FC and has developed into one of the club's most-important players.
"He's been here an awful long time. He's typical Sydney FC," Corica said.
"He works extremely hard; he does everything for the team. He's a great guy, and he come up with an assist as well which is great. He's really playing well and enjoying his football at the moment.
"You can see the amount of work that he does on that right flank as well, getting forward, getting back. Tactically, he's very good, he knows his job very well and he's getting stronger and stronger."
