Kurz backs Victory to fix poor AL start

Melbourne Victory coach Marco Kurz is confident his side can arrest their poor start to the A-League season and secure their first win against Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.

Victory have one point from their first two matches and are yet to score from open play - slumping to a scoreless draw against Melbourne City and a 2-1 loss to Western Sydney Wanderers.

But Kurz said his team needed to keep faith in what they were doing, and goals would follow - with the coach confident Andrew Nabbout, Ola Toivonen and Elvis Kamsoba could start hitting the scoreboard.

"What I want to see from my team is first ... the basics. Well-organised, disciplined, always positive, play out of a good structure, hard-working," he said.

"And then the chances are coming because we have a lot of quality in our team, not only the two guys (Nabbout and Kamsoba), also Ola.

"We have good players off the set pieces and I think we need a goal in an official game and that can be an opener for more confidence in our game."

Victory lacked fluency across their opening two games, and Kurz emphasised the need to be patient with the "process" of getting an overhauled squad to click, with the likes of Migjen Basha still settling into the team.

Kurz said it was important for his team to be clinical against an organised Roar, while not getting caught out the other way.

"I think for sure you will not have so many chances against them. That means if you have a chance to create a good moment or to finish, you must (put) the ball on target or in the goal," he said.

"You must work hard because now for us it's also new - the different climate in Brisbane, it will be hot and humid and that will be another challenge.

"But don't give them too much space too many chances and wait for the right moment. Create a lot of pressure in our offensive to create chances and then we must be better in the finishing."

Victory will be bolstered by Adama Traore, who missed the loss to the Wanderers.

Kurz said the club would take a patient approach to injured duo Robbie Kruse (hamstring) and Tim Hoogland (quad).
